Despite the awful weather at the start if the day, a number of hardy anglers were to be found on Goose Green on Bank Holiday Monday, Ryan Giles perched himself on Lake 3 at the venue and fishing the long pole with caster on the hook, he caught four Bream, Roach, Rudd and a solitary Crucian for a net of 12-3-0, sat on Ryan’s left was Mark Emery, Mark alternating between the feeder & short pole, caught Roach, Skimmers, Rudd & Perch for a net of 8-8-0, all fish were caught on soft pellet.

Graham Stubs was to be found fishing Lake 4, fishing to the central island Graham caught Bream, Skimmers, Roach Rudd and a small carp all on pellet, the total weight is unfortunately not known.

Tench Pond saw “Spawny” Shaun Groves bagging in true style, fishing the short pole tight to the bank, Shaun recorded  an all Tench net of 21-0-0, Paul “Pulborough Pixie” Cripps was also on Tench Pond and despite only fishing a short afternoon session, put together a respectable net of fish, the best Tench tipping the scales at 2-4-0.

Goose Green was fairly busy again over the Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday was it’s usual quiet self with very few anglers venturing out to fish the venue, mainly due to the continuing work parties, yes we would like some help please, Sunday however saw a full car park and anglers enjoying themselves on all of the lakes.

Lake three saw Training Officer, Steve Moulding, taking a break from his training duties and having some personal time, fishing tight to the dam wall with 13.5 meters of pole, Steve caught four Common carp to 5-0-0 and a beast of a Mirror carp that gave him the run around on White Hydro, when he eventually landed the fish it tipped the scales at 12-8-0, all fish were caught on soft pellet, also on Lake three was Jackie (sorry don’t know your surname), Jackie, fishing the pole towards the adjoining bank caught Bream, Skimmers & Eels all on maggot.

Lake Four was almost packed to the gunnels with just two swims remaining free, Fishery manager, Ray Clark, fished the short pole with maggot/pellet on the hook for a net of Roach, Rudd, Skimmers, Perch & Gudgeon totalling 10-0-0, on the opposite Bank, Society Secretary, Mick Booth, fished corn on the long pole towards the island for a net of Bream that tipped the scales at 25-0-0, also on Lake Four were Trevor Mordle & mark Emery who decided to fish an impromptu match between themselves for the grand sum of a £1.00 side bet, both anglers fished the short pole and alternated between, maggot, pellet & corn on the hook, Mark was the winner this time round with a net of mainly Roach for 14-8-0, whilst Trevor had to contend with second best this time round with a net of 8-3-0. The duo will be going head to head again Bank Holiday, depending on the weather.

Barry & Karen Ginnaw were to be found fishing Lake Two, both anglers fished the pole with maggot and pellet on the hook, Karen, true to form out fished Husband Barry, Karen’s catch included Roach, Skimmers & Carp.

Ray and Sandy Emery were to be found at Goose again today (do they ever go home?), once again the duo fished Lake 3, Ray however got the upper hand over Sandy this time, fishing his usual three meter whip with maggot on the hook, Ray was steadily catching Rudd & Roach, when something a little larger decided to take his bait, after a spirited battle Ray landed a 9-8-0 Common Carp.

Goose Green regulars, Ray & Sandy Emery have been up to their usual tricks again, Fishing Lake 3 at the venue, Ray caught Bream to 3lb, plus skimmers & Roach for a net of 15lb, all fish were caught with a three meter whip with maggot hook baits, Sandy on the other hand has continued her tremendous form, also fishing on Lake Three, she caught Carp of 2lb,4lb, 8 3/4lb plus Bream to 3lb, Crucians to 1lb and Roach to 12oz for a net in excess of 30lb, all fish were caught on maggot fished on the short pole.
