Catch Reports
Goose Green

Steve Ludlow fished Lake 3 at Goose Green with his wife Verity on the evening of the 9th July, Steve advises that he had one nice carp on luncheon meat, (it took a joint effort to land it as Steve is wheelchair bound) and he lost a further two, Steve also had a decent bream on meat and another on corn and missed several bites through watching the wildlife.

Paul “Pulborough Pixie” Cripps fished a short evening session on Lake 2 at Goose Green during the evening of the 10th July, fishing pellet presented under a small waggler on 4lb line, Paul hooked into and after a spirited fight on such light tackle, landed a lovely Ghostie of 11-9-0, a picture of the fish can be seen in the attachment. Paul also hooked into another large fish during the evening, but unfortunately his luck did not hold out the second time round and the fish was lost.

Webmaster Spike enjoyed an evening session at Goose Green  on the 10-7-07, sitting himself down on Peg 22 on Lake 3, fishing corn presented under a small waggler in the margins, Mark proceeded to net 3 bream to 3-2-0 and a solitary Common Carp of 4lb, he was also broken by something a little more substantial that screamed across the lake and just kept going like the proverbial freight train.

Paul “Pixie” Cripps was again to be found on Peg 11 on Lake 2 on the evening of the 11th July, Paul fishing the waggler towards the island caught Carp to 8-0-0, plus the occasional skimmer on halibut pellets, Sheila Olliver made a welcome return to the bank this evening, fishing the maggot feeder from Peg 13, Sheila contented herself in catching small Carp, Skimmers & Roach.

Friday the 13th saw a handful of anglers at Goose Green, Lake 3 saw husband & wife, Ray & Sandy Emery enjoying the sunshine, Ray fishing the straight lead with banded pellet caught 6 carp the best being 8-8-0, Sandy however had a real struggle and despite changing tactics caught just a solitary Roach.

Trevor Mordle was also to be found on Lake 3 fishing peg 30, Trev using the pole and pellet caught a mixed bag of Skimmers, Roach & carp, his total weight is unfortunately not known, on the opposite side of the Lake was young Jamie Douglas, Jamie also fishing the pole caught a mixed bag of Carp, Bream, Skimmers & Roach from peg 24.

Following the work party on Saturday the 14th July, Simon Parker (aged 9 yrs) settled himself down on lake 2 for an afternoons relaxation on the pole, Simon fishing with corn & pellet on a size 14 hook enjoyed a good afternoons sport, catching small Carp, Roach, Rudd, Skimmers, Bream & Crucians for a total net of 13-6-0, a photo of Simon and his catch can be viewed in the attachment. Fishing immediately to Simon’s right was his younger brother, Colin, who was content with fishing a top 3 in the margins, where he caught Rudd, Roach, Skimmers, small Carp & Crucians.

Goose Green Development

We would like to express our deep gratitude to the “FEW”, once again consisting of not only men, but women & children, who came to the work party on Saturday, these people being:
Steve & Verity Ludlow, Ray Clark, Sandy Emery, Carol Parker, Simon Parker (aged 9 yrs), Colin Parker (aged 7 yrs), Tony Olliver, Les Taylor & Mark Emery.

All of the paths around the new lakes have now been wood chipped, this is no mean task when you consider we have moved 10 ten ton truck loads of woodchip by hand using nothing more than wheelbarrows. As soon as we can lay our hands on some railway sleepers we will be able to finish facing the swims around Lakes 3 & 4, which will render these two lakes complete as far as building goes.

Another task that was completed on Saturday was the removal of some rushes by Peg 28 on Lake 3 that were impeding angling along the dam wall, the reeds that were removed filled two wheel barrows and have now been transplanted on the island in Lake 2, we would like to thank Mark Emery, for removing the reeds and replanting them on the island.
