Week Ending 5th July 2009

Coarse Fishing

With the weather being so warm a lot of the Fish have been sitting high up in the water, making them tricky to catch.  However, some Anglers managed to catch some good bags of mixed fish.

A real good bag of silver fish around the 35-40lb mark came off peg 4 on Wednesday this week; the angler fished maggots high in the water at 10 meters catching Roach, Rudd, Perch and Bream.

Aaron from Rodbaston College fished from peg 1 and had a fantastic’s days fishing, catching Crap, Bream and Tench up to 8 lbs in weight.  Aaron caught a lot of the fish six metres out fishing corn over the top off pellet, when the bites dried up he switched to the inside line which was tight to the reeds.  Aaron finished the day on a net full of fish and would have pulled the scales to the 60lb mark easy.

A lot of the fish in the lake are holding close in to the reeds and tight to island so fish nice and close.  Maggots, corn and worm have been the best baits this week fished over the top of pellets.

Trout Fishing

Probably the worst weather you can get for trout fishing this week with the sun making fishing tricky.  Early morning and late evenings have been the time to fish on the trout lake,  the weed in the swans neck pool has made all the anglers fish on the railway pool.  Buzzers, Damsels, Diawl Bach’s and a Varity of small lures have taken fish up to 9lb from the railway pool.  Any of the corners have fished the best as you will be fishing in around about 7ft of water.

I intend on putting an aerator in the lake next week to cool the water down and to put some oxygen into the water, this will hopefully bring the fish back on the feed.

Hopefully see you soon and tight lines.
