Weekly Round-Up By Phil Dixon

Trout Fishing
Good fishing has continued on both Trout lakes this week, with fish up to 9lb being caught. Top Rod this week was Richard Albert who hooked and landed 10 fish on a floating line using different flies, He did state that a Red Spider was the most productive fly of the day. Other good bags of fish have been caught on Olive buzzer and small dries such as CDC’s and small dark Hoppers. The fish in the Swan Neck Pool are still holding in the Deep pegs near to the lodge and at the far end of the lake. The Trout in the Railway pool are still shoaled up, but have broken in to two different shoals, one shoal has stayed in the corner at the bottom end of the pool, whilst the other is moving up the lake and holding close to the island. Hopefully see you soon Tight Lines

Coarse Fishing
The coarse fishing here at Seighford has been fairly steady all week, with mixed bags coming off. Local angler Rich had a good bag of Carp on Monday evening, he caught fish to 8lb using paste fished 10 meters out on the pole on peg 22. His fishing companion Kelvin fished two pegs down on Peg 2, he caught around 30/40lb of Carp and a bonus Tench of around the 6lb mark. Kelvin hooked all of his fish from underneath an over hanging tree around 6 meters to his right, like Rich he used paste and fed the fishery pellet.

The Old Pool will be closed on Saturday 17th October, only,For a private club match. Sorry for any inconvenience. The Old pool is available for match bookings, For enquires please ring  the lodge phone on 01785 282967. The Horseshoe pool which currently has a few trout in has been fishing reasonable. This is an any method Pool which does have coarse fish in it but  whilst targeting the coarse fish, you have a chance to hook into a hard fighting Rainbow Trout. Best methods have been float fished corn and pellet up inthe water. A constant feed of pellet is required for plenty of bites, can we please remind anglers the only feed pellets to be used at Seighford must be purchased from the lodge. Hope to see you all down here soon.
