Fishery Report For Week ending 7th September, 2009 by Phil Dixon

Trout Fishing
The start of winter season has finally come around, with help from a weed cutter which has been down and done work on both the Swan neck pool and the Railway pool, Both pools have been stocked with fresh hard fighting rainbows. The minimum Trout that has gone in is 3lb, and they run well into double figures. With this new stocking has come fantastic sport. First to have a taste of the good fishing was Wolverhampton based angler Chris Taylor who hooked and landed 30 fish to 9lb, he caught on a variety of lures including damsels, Cats whiskers and blobs.

We also held our first Fly fishing match which took place on the Railways Pool. Winner was Dave Coates with 15 fish, his best fish being 10lb 7oz. Second place was Malc Whitehead with 9 fish, Malc also had the best fish in the match, tipping the scales with 10lb 9oz. Club bookings are available through the lodge on 01785 282967.

Coarse Fishing
The Coarse fishing has slowed down slightly this week at Seighford due to the change in weather. However decent bags of carp are still being taken. Peg 1 Produced a 58lb bag of carp in 4 hours, all taken on Paste 5 meters out along the reeds. The reeds are still holding a good head of fish with the best pegs of the pool being 1,2,4,12,16,20 and 21. Best baits this week have been paste fished over the fisheries pellet (purchased from the lodge) Corn is also still catching this week, with local angler Glen Moody taking a 5lb  9oz tench off peg 9. We would like to remind all anglers that throwing your bait in at the end of a session is not allowed, any un-wanted bait please hand in at the lodge or take home as the fish can only eat so much. See you all soon.
