Report By Phil Dixon For Week Ending 25/5/09

Trout Fishing
After a slow start with the weather, the fish have been feeding really well up on the surface and again the dries have been catching some cracking bags.  Fish to 9lb have been taken this week and anglers have been having great sport.  Pete Kelly from Crewe had a fine day taking 10fish all from the Swans Neck pool on a small egg fly and buzzers.  Cats Whiskers and small green/white lures have been working well on the Railway pool, as well as small damsels.  The weed is really starting to grow on the lakes so dries and light flys are going to be the best and produce more fish, the evenings will fish well now if the weather stays good.

Coarse Fishing
The first of many matches was held on the Old pool this week when Goodyears had a small club match with 9 anglers taking part.  Fishing started off slow with a few small carp getting caught; as the match went on and the fish found the food and anglers started to catch.  All 9 anglers fished the pole around 10 meters; Terry Morris won the match on peg 1 with 32lb 5ozs which consisted of carp bream and a tench, all taken on red maggot fished over pellet, Robert Cook was runner up weighing 20lb 7oz taken off peg 6,  Jay Doors took the best fish of the match off peg 9 a stunning 5lb 15oz Tench.

Wayne Waterhouse had a cracking days fishing off peg 5, fishing the pole at 10 meters feeding pellet and fishing a 4mm hookable pellet.  After 4 hours Wayne had a fine bag of carp weighing 40lb 6ozs, pictures will be displayed in the Lodge.
