Two or three fishing outfits: lightweight shorts or pants (recommended) and preferably longsleeved shirts.
Good quality wading booties (NO flats or reef fishing possible without proper footwear).
Two or three pairs of sport socks to wear with your wading booties.
Long bill hat, prefer for-and-aft type or large brimmed hat (bring spare one).
Two or three bandanas.

One sweatshirt or lightweight polar fiber sweater.
One lightweight rainjacket.
Bathing suit.
One or two T-shirts, pair of shorts for evenings on the boat.
Non-marking thongs or slippers to wear on the boat (optional, barefoot works well too). For fishing from the boat, I personally prefer to wear boat shoes, it gives better footing and avoids possible injuries.

FISHING EQUIPMENT
We will be doing a mix of flats and bluewater fishing, but of course I will try to accommodate everybody’s wishes in terms of targeted fish and favoured technique(s).
On the flats: Fish species encountered: bonefish, pompano (indo-pacific permit), queenfish, yellow-spotted trevally, bluefin trevally, giant trevally, barracuda (some huge specimen), groupers, snappers, triggerfish. For bonefish and most smaller species_: 8 or 9 weight outfit, floating line, 9 to 14 ft leader (knotless or home tied) 12 or 16 Lbs. To fish the deeper spots near coral heads, a sinktip or full sink line. Flies_: generally light coloured flies (white, tan, chartreuse, pale pink)_: gotcha, minipuff, crazy charlie, epoxy flies, crabs, … Size 4 mainly and orange color, but also a few size 2 (heavier weighted).
For trevally, pompano and smaller barracuda_: 9 or 10 weight outfit, floating line, 7 to 12 ft leader, 16 to 20 Lbs. Shock tippet (60 Lbs) required for trevally, grouper, etc and wire for barracuda. Deceivers, poppers and clousers for trevally & queenfish. Mostly crab and shrimp patterns for pompano. WARNING: Farquhar is the home of HUGE GIANT TREVALLY (50 to 80 Lbs ). Record hunters will have the possibility to put their name in the IGFA record book, but they have to come prepared: 14 weight rod, large reel with STRONG drag, 42 Lb Scientific Anglers fly line, at least 300 meters of 40 to 50 Lbs dacron backing and suitable leader material. These huge fish will only eat BIG flies: tie big streamers on hook size 4/0 to 7/0. CHECK YOUR KNOTS!!!!

Bluewater fly fishing_: Drifting and chumming method. Targeted fish_: virtually anything, coral fish like groupers, snappers, green jobfish, triggerfish, … and pelagics like bonito, dorado, rainbow runner, tuna, wahoo etc… 10, 11 or even 12 weight outfit with a full sink 400 to 6OO grain fly line or shooting head. At LEAST 250 m. 30 Lbs backing. Leader 4 to 7 ft. 16, 20 or even 30 Lbs with 60 or 80 Lbs shock tippet. For
barracuda and dogtooth tuna, wire is required. Flies_: mainly clouser minnow (chartreuse/white) size 1 to 4/0. Bring also some UNweighted deceivers, squid patterns and large crabs. Teasing method. 11, 12 or 13 weight outfit. Targeted fish_: sailfish, wahoo, tuna, dorado, rainbow runner,… Intermediate or sinking fly line at LEAST 300 m. 30 Lbs backing. Off-shore leader with 80 to 100 Lbs shocktippet. Wire required for wahoo. Flies_: 20 to 35 cm long. Colours_: pink, pink/white, yellow/blue (fuselier fish), yellow/green, white/green, white/blue, black/purple, preferably mounted on tubes. Hook size 6/0, single or tandem rig. Take weightless, some with weighted heads and a few popperheads.

Other fishing stuff_: Light wading vest, chest pack or waist pack, like the SIMMS DRY CREEK CHEST. Tippet material, ready-made leaders with shock or bite tippet, line clipper, artery forceps, small repair tools, super glue, duct tape, … Last tips…
