The 10th Stoney & Friends Sponsored Fish-In in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support (Registered Charity Number 261017) took place at the Dynamite Yateley Complex over the weekend of 11-13 August 2006.

114 anglers paid to take part in this annual event raising a total of £17,862.27 to date, through entrance fees, sponsorship and the infamous Stoney & Friends raffle.  With some money still outstanding, the final total will be well in excess of £18,000.

As well as the social aspect of the event, some fantastic fishing was enjoyed by many of the participants.  Amongst the highlights were a number of 30 lb carp from 3 of the lakes and a 34 lb catfish from the Match Lake.

As well as prizes for the individuals who raised the most money, this year saw the inaugural Stoney & Friends Merit Award.  This award was donated by Matt Berry and family in memory of his late grandmother in recognition of all the hard work undertaken by a number of Macmillan Nurses throughout her illness.  This year’s award was presented to Dean Oram in recognition of his continued extensive support of our events, not to mention his captures that have included the Match Lake Scaley 2 years ago and this year’s capture of Cracker from Sandhurst Lake, both at over 34lb.  The prize consisted of a complete stalking set-up, including a custom built Yateley Angling Centre Stalker Rod, which will be inscribed with the winner’s name.  In presenting the award, Matt described the Macmillan Nurses as being “more like friends than nurses” and thanked them for their work that was “far beyond the call of duty”.

Without the very generous support of the angling trade our events would not be as successful as they are and we would like to thank all our sponsors for this event:
