National Fishing Month news release

Why don’t you TAKE A FRIEND FISHING during National Fishing Month and help encourage thousands of parents, grandparents and friends to spend time over the summer holidays to try angling?

Remember when a friend or family member took you fishing when you were young or just starting out?  We bet everyone has experienced a memorable session or two like that – sharing the bank with someone else is always more fun! And with the Take A Friend Fishing campaign, there is the chance to take someone for FREE.

Through the Angling Times, you can get a free one-day rod licence (worth £3.75) so you can take a mate or a family member on a fishing session between Saturday, July 21 and midnight, July 29th 2012.

In additional to a FREE rod licence, your friend can also fish for free at a number of Angling Trust fishery and club member venues.  These Angling Trust members have pledged to support the Take a Friend Fishing campaign by offering FREE day ticket or member passes so that your friend can fish for nothing on their waters.

All you need to do is pick up a copy of the Angling Times on the 17th of July or visit www.gofishing.co.uk/Angling-Times/Section/News–Catches/General-News/FREE-rod-licence/.  Either in the newspaper or online, you will find the free rod licence voucher. Cut out or print out the voucher and fill it in, read the Terms and Conditions, grab your tackle and your voucher and go fishing!

Each free licence voucher is valid for one day only for all coarse fish and non-migratory trout   waters within England and Wales.

Environment Agency Angling Participation Manager Richard Wightman said:
“‘The message is simple: Take a Friend Fishing! If you have your own full annual licence, we would love you to use the one-day licence voucher to help introduce a friend or family member to go fishing during National Fishing Month.’”

Mark Lloyd from the Angling Trust added:
“‘It’’s fantastic news that the Take A Friend Fishing campaign has gone from strength to strength. We are delighted that some of our members have been able to participate by offering free day tickets for their waters.”
