IN A NUTSHELL
Two big prize angling competitions running in tandem- ‘The big fish’ SPECIMEN competition night fish, starting on Friday 30th July at 6pm – finishing in tandem with the MATCH competition on Saturday afternoon: starting at 10am Saturday morning. An angling trade fair on the Saturday with exhibition stands from all our event supporters; with demonstrations, great event discounts on their exclusive ranges of gear, baits etc… Team Nash will be holding an exclusive free kids angling day camp with demonstrations, a micro tournament, cool prizes and training from some of the best in the business. Other attractions to appeal to the general public include ‘The redtail’ falconry display team, a laser clay pigeon shoot, all day bar, café and the obligatory hog roast, together with other attractions TBC.
COMPETITION PRIZES
SPECIMEN (now fully subscribed with extensive reserve list)
The ‘BIGH FISH’ trophy, An all expenses paid fishing holiday for 2 at Kevin Nash’s exclusive French fishing resort worth well over £1000, A Nash all weather brolly/bivvy, a Viper bait boat, huge Bait-tech hamper, top gear from Korda, Carpology gear.. The list is endless. Two runners up will receive cool sponsor hampers and a free French or Spanish fishing holiday courtesy of our event exhibitors.
MATCH COMPETITION (25 pegs remaining) @ £40 per peg.
BIG CASH PRIZE POOL of £2000. Split over match lakes 1 & 2 with a highly respectable first prize of £750. 2nd and 3rd prizes on each lake down to £125. This prize pool is based on 70 paying entrants at £40 per peg.
THE EXHIBITION
A very well attended angling exhibition spread around the 150 acre site, including big name sponsor stands alongside reputable indies: including Spomb, Specialist angler online, Medusa feeders, Negative image, Crystal waters fishery etc.. With a capacity of up to 50 exhibitor stands (4mtr x 4mtr assumption). we still have 15-20 available and welcome applications from reputable angling related companies. ALL EXHIBITORS ATTEND FREE THIS FIRST YEAR- all we ask is a prize donation and a donation to our charity if you have a good day!
WHAT’S IT IN AID OF?
‘The big fish’ is my pilot event to create a strong brand that will grow significantly over the next few years- aimed at establishing itself as the foremost charity angling event in the country by 2012. As part of my fundraising as family ambassador for ‘The sick children’s trust’ (www.sickchildrenstrust.org) I am organising this ambitious event in the memory of my beautiful 12 year old daughter, Jodi, who tragically passed away following a year and a half battle with severe aplastic anaemia. This amazing charity helped my family in many ways and this is our way of putting something back.
ABOUT THE VENUE AND EVENT
The large horse-shoe shaped specimen lake and 2 well stocked match lakes are spread around this picturesque 150 acre site. Response has been amazing to early event promotion, enticing massive names from the UK angling scene and many other highly regarded fishermen from around the country.
The event will now be covered by several fishing production companies, and independently through my local screen agency, Signals media. There will be loads of coverage in angling publications both before and after this, the first event in the ‘big fish’ annual calendar. It promises to be massive!
Offering a unique blend of a big prize mixed genre fishing tournament, a huge trade show and a wide range of events for all the family- including the amazing falconry display where you can get up close and have your picture taken with hawks, buzzards and the huge eagle owl.
This lovely site provides the perfect opportunity for a family day out, with healthy walks around the sprawling site or a leisurely picnic by the waters edge, with an all day bar, café, hog roast- it’ going to be one great day in anglers paradise.
Don’t forget to bring your family and friends, especially with the exclusive free ‘Nash’ kids angling day camp, talks, demonstrations, prizes, freebies and one-on-one tutoring from some of the biggest names in the business this event promises to be so much more than (in the words of the missus) ‘just another bloody silly fishing competition’. We aim to raise over £3000 for the charity this year and welcome any support available- but failing that tell your friends and I hope to see you there.
