Angling Trust News Release

Regular anglers aboard Steve Porters’ Poole based Charter boat True Blue have shown their ‘true colours’ by supporting Steve’s fundraising ‘species competition’, the proceeds of which are going towards helping with the costs of supporting the England Team in their bid to secure the Home Nations Boat Championships being held this year in Weymouth from 22nd – 25th June 2011.

The True Blue anglers have raised an incredible £300 and the picture shows Steve Porter handing over the cheque to this year’s England Team Members on a free practice day trip for the team offered by Steve. On the practice day, the England team bagged some quality bream along with pollack, wrasse, garfish, pouting, dogfish, and a host of mini species.

Boat FishingWith the absence of available funding in these difficult times, anglers will have to find around £1,000 per competitor to represent their country at this year’s Home Nations event. Steve and his anglers’ efforts will be a great help in offsetting some of these costs and hopefully assist the England team in paving the way to gold medal success.

Angling Trust and the England team would also like to offer their thanks and appreciation to Tronix and Gemini who have supplied items of tackle for the team.
