Big fish this week at Wellsfield and a bonanza was had at the weekend as the conditions were perfect. Many large doubles and fish in the 5lb to 10lb category were stocked and some were caught. The average weight was over 3lb, with many fish in the 4lb – 6lb range. Many anglers bagged their limit at the weekend with great sport using fly and bait methods.
We are still open till 8pm 7 days a week, come up and gives us a try.
Many troutmaster specimens were caught this week, the FIVE larger ones were as follows: A 14lb rainbow by Mr Collins (Falkirk), a 12lb 4oz rainbow by Mr Clark (Kirkintilloch), a 10lb rainbow for my J Temporal (Denny), a 9lb rainbow trout for Mr Frank Robertson (Tullibody) and a 8lb 8oz rainbow trout for Mr Hamilton (Airdrie).
One red tagged trout was caught this week by lucky angler Mr Semple (Bonnybridge) winning him £50. There are loads of red tagged trout (£50 prize) and white tagged trout (£500) in the lochans to be caught by lucky anglers.
Best flies this week were: Fritz Nobblers, Buzzers, Diawl Bach, Snatchers, Damsel. Best bait: Power Bait, Taz’s, Tobies, Maggots.
