The recent spell of rain has really freshened up the lochans and all three lochans are Crystal Clear with excellent water clarity. There is a great head of trout in all 3 lochans. The two fly fishing ponds and the “any method” bait fishing pond fished very well again this week with many anglers bagging their catch limits.
The evening sessions continue and the fishery is open from 8am till 10pm, 7 days a week. Permits are available throughout the summer holidays for adults, juniors, parents with child, and families.
One Yellow Tagged Trout were caught this week: Mr Taylor (Larkhall) caught a £50 Yellow Prize Tagged Trout winning him £50 in his bag of 3 trout for 8lb 8oz. At the moment there are seven £50 Yellow Prize Tagged Trout and three £500 tagged trout in the ponds. The competition costs £1 to enter. Catch a tagged trout and win the prize money!
TWO specimens were caught this week: Mr Wilkie (Falkirk) caught a superb 10lb rainbow from the top fly pond using buzzers in his bag of 4 trout weighing 19lb and Mr Liddle (Alloa) caught a 9lb rainbow from the bait pond using maggots in his 3 trout for 16lb.
Best flies this week: Buzzers, PTN, Diawl Bach, Damsel, Hoppers, Nomads fished on a floating line. Best bait: Powerbait, Maggots and Mepps.
