Ice Prevention wave machines are installed on all ponds at the fishery and the fishery is open as usual. The fishery is completely ice free. Great fishing at the moment with clear water and plenty of fish to be caught.
All angling club secretaries should note that club bookings for 2007 are now being taken for Wellsfield.
The average trout weight was 3lb 4oz. Many fish in the 4lb –5lb range were caught.
Fly fishers found a floating or intermediate line worked best with fritz, goldhead lures and dancers stripped slowly. The bait anglers found spinners and powerbait worked best plus maggots.
Two specimens wer caught – Mr Hepburn (Bonnybridge) landed a fine 11lb rainbow on a Sparkler Lure in his 4 for 19lb. Mr Thomson (Dunblane) landed a nice 8lb rainbow from the bait pond using a Toby in his 4 fish for 17lb 8oz. One Yellow £50 Prize Tag was caught this week.
