All anglers should note that the fishery is open through out the winter and will be ice free as the automatic ice prevention wave machines are installed.
The fishery is fishing well at the moment on all 3 lochans and there is a fantastic head of trout in the ponds at the moment. Stocking rates are at a record high for this time of year. The catch rates were high again all week last week with many anglers bagging their limits. The average trout weight was 3lb 4oz. Many fish in the 4lb –5lb range were caught.
Fly fishers found a floating or intermediate line or a slow sink DI3 line worked best with fritz, goldhead lures and dancers stripped slowly. The bait anglers found powerbait worked best and spinners.
One Yellow Tag was caught this week and two specimens were caught this week. Mr Campbell (Camelon) landed a fine 10lb 2oz rainbow on a Viva lure in his 4 for 19lb. Mr Thomson (Denny) landed a nice 10lb rainbow from the bait pond using a Zebra Toby in his 3 fish for 16lb.
