The fishing is very good at the moment and fish are moving everywhere. The late night evening fishing sessions are still ongoing till 8pm and the floodlights are on as well for fishing into the dark. High catch rates for anglers with the right fly or bait was typical last week. The average fish size was 3lb 4oz, with many fish at the 4lb–5lb mark. Many larger fish are coming off at the moment. Rainbows, Blues and Browns are featuring amongst the catches.
Fritz Blobs, Ace of Spades, Black Dancers and Lures are deadly at the moment for fly fishers. For bait anglers Spinners, Taz’s Powerbait and Maggots were most successful.
Two troutmasters specimens and a Yellow £50 prize tag were caught this week. T Young (Grangemouth) netted a cracking 12lb 4oz rainbow using Lures in his 4 for 21lb 8oz. J McAllister (Camelon) landed a fin perfect 11lb rainbow using a small toby in his 4 for 19lb from the bait pond. A Ferguson (Larbert) caught a £50 yellow prize tag using worms.
