Anglers should note that Wellsfield Fishery is open all year as ice prevention wave machines are installed at the fishery. Names are now being taken for the Christmas Fishing Competition on the 23rd December with £100 1st Prize plus Turkeys and other prizes.
All 3 lochans are fishing well indeed. The average fish weight was 3lb 3oz and many fish in the 4-5lb category were caught over the week. Yellow and Viva Dancers, Black Montanas, Damsels and Fritz’s worked well for fly fishers fished with an intermediate line. For bait anglers Tobys, Taz’s, Worm Powerbait and Maggots were most successful.
One Yellow £50 prize tagged trout was caught by Mr C Provan of Falkirk from the bait pond.
Two specimen trout were caught this week ��” a cracking rainbow of 11lb from the top fly pond for Mr Hogg (Falkirk) in his 5 for 24lb using lures and a nice 10lb rainbow for Mr Smith (Camelon) in his 5 for 23lb using maggots and powerbait.
