Wellsfield Fishery is now offering “Learn to Fish” Fly Fishing & Bait Fishing Lessons for kids and adults. All equipment is provided including a fishing permit to catch trout on the lochans. Please book your lessons by calling 01324 822800.
The evening sessions continue and the fishery is open from 8am till 10pm, 7 days.
All 3 lochans fished very well this week. Water clarity is excellent and there is plenty of hatches of buzzers, damsels, dragonfly and daddies. Dry flies, small traditional wet flies, nymphs and lures are working well.
TWO Yellow Prize Tagged Trout were caught this week – Mr D Laird (Carronshore) from the top fly pond winning him £50 on Thursday and Mr D Anderson (Grangmouth) from the middle pond on Tuesday. Yellow £50 Tags are stocked weekly. There are plenty tags still in the water including two £500 White Tagged Fish!
THREE specimen trout were caught this week:
Mr I Craw (Tullibody) landed a superb 10lb rainbow in his 6 for 22lb 4oz in 2 visits,
and Mr Hunter (Stirling) caught a superb 8lb rainbow in his 5 for 20lb and Mr McMenemy (Menstrie) caught a nice 7lb rainbow in his 5 for 18lb.
Best flies this week: Hoppers, Buzzers, Diawl Bach, PTN and Yellow Dancer fished on a floating line. Best bait: Rainbow Powerbait, Maggots, Mepp Spinners.
