The late night evening fishing sessions are still ongoing till 9pm and the floodlights are on as well for fishing into the dark. High catch rates for anglers with the right fly or bait was typical last week. The average fish size was 3lb 4oz, with many fish at the 4lb–5lb mark. Many larger fish are coming off at the moment. Rainbows, Blues and Browns are featuring amongst the catches.
Frtiz Blobs, Dancers and Daddies are deadly at the moment for fly fishers. For bait anglers Spinners, Powerbait and Maggots were most successful.
Two troutmasters specimens and a Yellow £50 prize tag were caught this week. A Hendry (Falkirk) landed a cracking 13lb rainbow in his 4 for 22lb 8oz using sparklers. D Corrigan (Laurieston) landed a fine 10lb rainbow using Mepps in his 3 for 16lb from the bait pond. T Chalmers (Dunblane) landed a nice 9lb rainbow in his 3 for 15lb using lures. G Connelly (New Carron) caught a £50 yellow prize tag using a Buzzer.
