The fish are lying a bit deeper now unless its bright sunshine and plenty are rising. An intermediate line for fly fishers and bottom rig for bait anglers proved best. The fishing is very good at the moment at Wellsfield.
The average fish size was 3lb 3oz, with many fish at the 4lb–5lb mark. One double was caught this week – Mr G Sneddon (Larbert) landed a cracking 12lb 3oz rainbow from the top pond using a Montana Fritz Nymph. Mr Kilpatrick (Edinburgh) caught a fine 7lb 8oz rainbow.
Fritz lures, Dancers and Goldhead Damsels are working well for fly fishers. For bait anglers Spinners, Meps, Powerbait and Maggots were most successful.
