Many larger fish are coming off at the moment with the cooler water temperatures. The late night evening fishing sessions are still ongoing and the floodlights are on as well for fishing into the dark. High catch rates for anglers with the right fly or bait was typical last week. The average fish size was 3lb 4oz, with many fish at the 4lb–5lb mark.
Blobs are deadly at the moment for fly fishers fished with a mid to fast retrieve, Dancers and Fritzes also doing well. For bait anglers Spinners, Powerbait and Maggots were most successful.
Two double figure specimens and a Yellow £50 prize tag were caught this week. D Ramsay (Falkirk) landed a cracking 12lb 12oz rainbow in his 4 for 23lb using dancers, S Ferguson (Camelon) landed a fine 11lb rainbow using powerbait in his 4 for 20lb from the bait pond. E Thomson (Falkirk) caught a £50 yellow prize tag using powerbait.
