Late evening rises are coming into their own at Wellsfield as the temperature cools giving great top of the water sport using a floating line and flies such as small bob dry flies, Hoppers, CDC’s and Buzzers. The late night evening fishing sessions till 10pm are ongoing. All 3 ponds are fishing very well at the moment for fly and bait anglers.
Wellsfield Fishery is offering discounts to school kids during the summer holidays. Discounts are also available for Juniors and Parents with children permits for bait and fly fishing. Rod Hire is available for beginners. Bait is also on sale at the fishery.
Despite the bright hot weather, the average fish catch this week was still good at 3.5 fish per rod, with an average size of 3lb 3oz, with many fish at the 4lb–5lb mark. Bait anglers have found Mep Spinners, Dexters, Orange Powerbait and Maggots to be most successful.
One specimen fish and one Yellow tagged fish was caught this week – a cracking 10lb rainbow for M Laing (Grangemouth) on an Okey Dokey in his 4 for 22lb 8oz. A Saunders caught the a fine 4lb rainbow with a Yellow £50 prize tag using a Tazmanian Devil in his 3 for 10lb from the bait pond.
