Need Leadcore ? Read on…..

All anglers should be aware of the possible dangers to their quarry when using any form of leadcore. It is one piece of tackle which has the potential to cause death to fish or other aquatic life if used incorrectly. So, with this in mind, I scoured the market for a leadcore leader that is infallible. I do not normally use leadcore in any form, but my fishing this year has taken me to waters where I need an extra edge; I need to keep my terminal tackle pinned ‘hard-on’ the bottom where it is invisible to carp. Advanced Carp Equipment have produced ‘HARD-ON CAMO LEADCORE’ which suits my situation perfectly….

HARD-ON CAMO LEADCORE HELICOPTER/CHOD RIGSI am rapidly becoming an avid user of A.C.E. terminal tackle. Attractively packaged, it is guaranteed to catch the angler’s eye in any tackle shop. I purchased mine from Pickering’s of Burslem, which is my local agent. Costing £4.99 for three 30” leaders, the range includes WEED, SILT and GRAVEL options to suit various situations. Specifically designed to be fished as a ‘chod’ or helicopter rig, each package contains enough spare rubber beads, flexi and helicopter swivels to change all 3 leaders as the need arises. The leadcore itself comprises a three tone weave to ensure the end tackle is brilliantly camouflaged against the lake bed, and a spliced loop makes attaching the mainline ‘loop to loop’ extremely easy. A.C.E. have also included a ‘how to?’ sheet which gives all the information the user needs to convert from helicopter to a ‘chod’ set up without any problems. By utilising a baiting needle, the beads can be removed or replaced easily on or off the leadcore to achieve each presentation. To attach the lead, a pear shaped split ring is protected by an elongated tulip bead which slides down to prevent tangles. In turn, this held in place by a rubber sheath to stop the bead slipping back up the leader.

Anti tangle sleeves are also incorporated to avert problems with the hooklink twisting around the main body.

The rubber beads which secure the ‘chod’ in place are precisely designed to pass over the spliced loop in the event of a mainline breakage. It is imperative that the leader is fixed to the mainline in the prescribed method to maintain this rigs safety; if not the angler is neglecting his responsibility to his catch.

I would recommend this type of ready made leader to any angler who seeks a completely safe set up. Correctly used, it will ensure that the rig directly behind the hook is firmly nailed to the bottom where wary carp will never see it…..
