Cheap boilie rolling table for making your own 20mm baits

I have been writing regular articles on my fishing sessions and ‘how to’ guides on using various ingredients for bait making, groundbaits, etc. for some time now, so I thought it was about time I started writing some product reviews on actual tackle and products that I use.  A few anglers on my Home Made Boilies page on Facebook – http://www.facebook.com/HomeMadeBoilies – have been asking about the Carp Kinetic Rolling Tables from Dragon Carp, so I thought it would be a good idea to start there.

Well, where do I start…? When the rolling table arrives, the handles and rubber stops are in a separate bag and you have to put them on yourself (very easy to do) which, in my opinion, is a good thing as it means they won’t get damaged in transit.  With the table all assembled it looks good quality and feels nice and sturdy, so now to test how it works.

The table comes as a 20mm rolling table, which is fine, but I would like to see other sizes available as my favourite size boilie is 14mm. Other anglers have their own favourite sizes; it’s a matter of personal preference, where you’re fishing, what species you’re fishing for and a whole lot more. That said, 20mm is a good size for picking out the bigger carp, so most won’t complain!

As I was using a mix that expands a bit, I squeezed an 18mm sausage onto the rolling table and gave it 2-3 minutes to expand before putting the top of the rolling table on and giving it a few pushes and pulls to get the sausage turned into boilies.  As you can see from the photo, they rolled very nicely. However, to get the most from the rolling table, you will need to screw the base down on to a wooden surface. Holes are provided for this.  It rolled the baits very smoothly and fitted together very nicely.

My overall opinion of this product is that I am very impressed with it and for £15, or £20 for the table and the gun together (which will be reviewed separately), it is very good value, too. The only downside to this product, as I mentioned above, is that it is only currently available in 20mm.

Hope that helps some of you decide. You can view the Carp Kinetics Rolling Table by clicking here.
