There’s an old adage that you’ve probably heard; “Cold hands, warm heart.” What a load of old tosh! What it should say is, “Cold hands, miserable angler”!

Honestly, there can’t be much worse for an angler. Cold feet are bad, but at least you don’t have to tie a hook on with those. Nope, cold hands are band news for anglers…and anyone else, come to think of it!

If you don’t want to spend a fortune on gloves, you could do a lot worse than these thermal ones from Tackle Bargains. They were made for IceSpace, in order for visitors to be able to comfortably cope with the -5 degree temperature inside and have a small, but quite tasteful, blue logo on them.

I decided to do a bit of research to find out more about IceSpace and found that, “Potters Field, London, SE1 2JR – billed as the planet’s first ever five-star Arctic attraction, it opened to the public in London on 1 May 2006 and closed barely three weeks later on 20 May 2006.” (from http://www.thisistheatre.com/icespace.html). No wonder Tackle Bargains can sell them so cheaply.

The gloves themselves are very comfortable, lightweight and warm. They have a thermal layer  inside, which I’ve tried to show in this photograph. We’ve had a heavy frost here recently and, for my sins, I have a dalmatian dog that requires a walk come rain or shine. Therefore, these gloves have been a Godsend! That’s the good thing about ‘fishing clothing’ ” you can get good use out of it, even when you’re nowhere near water.

These thermal gloves come in a man and lady cut, as well as a child’s mitten. The gloves are just £4.95 and the mittens £3.95. Even my wife likes them, and she’s not normally impressed by any stuff that I review!

I won’t bang on for ages about these gloves. There’s only so much I can write about them, and only so much you need to know. Suffice to say, they do what they’re designed to do and the price is right!
