When presentation means everything…

After giving this a trial, I have to say I like it. ‘Freefall’ does exactly that; it’s a weighted rig tube which is much narrower than the usual products from other manufacturers and comes supplied as a 3 metre reel which is much better value!

It actually consists of a stainless steel inner with a protective outer sheath and comes in three colours; green, black or brown, so should suit most venues. Because it has a heavy liner, it is much easier to thread mainlines through ‘Freefall’ as it does not tend to become blocked with water or debris and has a much wider internal bore to make threading much less of a chore. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve cut an inch off the bottom of my rig tubing hoping to see my mainline which just will not come out the other end!!

Rig Marole Freefall Micro Rig TubeKinking the material should be avoided as the steel inner core will become damaged, but it is possible to reduce the deflection in some cases by steaming gently. Although it is heavy and constructed of metal, it is amazingly limp and will stick to the contours of the lake bed without fear of spooking fish. It can be cut with sharp scissors too, so if you don’t want to use all 3 metres, then you don’t have to!

Retailing for around £9.99, it isn’t the cheapest tubing on the market, but I’d consider it one of the best….
