Bacteria-based rolled bait!

When it comes to pop ups, I think it’s fair to say that we’ve seen most things before. There will always be new mixes, new flavours, new colours – even mixed colours! But, by and large, there’s only so much you can do with a pop up… or so we thought!

Even we have to say that these new active ingredient super hookbaits from North Staffordshire carp bait specialists SAE Bait Developments are something quite new and quite exciting. SAE Bait Developments has become something of a cult carp bait supplier over recent years, providing ‘proper’ baits and ‘proper’ service to discerning specimen anglers wanting fresh bait rolled every week, and not surprisingly, their customer base has rocketed as a result.

However, never one to sit back, SAE boss Scott Erye has been formulating a unique – in the true sense of the word – bacteria based rolled bait. It’s taken several years to get the balance of active ingredients in the bait just right, but it’s been worth the wait, as results so far for fieldtesters have been pretty spectacular and at times it’s seemed the bait is throwing up fish just for fun!

Scud Active Ingredient Super HookbaitsThe Bacteria B1 rolled bait is due for release in early February 2012. However, the Scud active ingredient super hookbaits have been out for a month or two, and have been providing some spectacular catches during the winter months.

We’ve seen these baits in the flesh and not only are they very impressive – they are something very, very, different! They are bright white in colour, but have a coating of live bacteria – the green texture you can see coating the bait in the image. The smell is fantastic and they just scream ‘carp’!

The hookbaits kick out a seriously boosted attractor signal yet quite impressively, there is absolutely no chemical flavour in the baits at all; just the raw power of the bacteria being more than enough to bring the carp in to investigate the natural trigger.

If single hookbaits are your thing, or fishing over feed with bright over-flavoured pop ups, then you should really take a look at the new Scuds from SAE, In a word, they’re awesome, and offer a very different approach to singles.

Each tub comes complete with a sachet of specially formulated liquid reactor, along with a boosted bacteria powdered food, which when applied to the hookbaits keeps them in prime fish catching condition right to the very last one in the tub!

The scuds are available in 65g tubs of shelf life pop ups priced at £5.00, supplied in either 12mm, 14mm or 16mm sizes, but should you need another size, they’ll be happy to oblige… they’re good like that!
