Last week my dad dropped me off at meadow view fisheries in Statham Cheshire.
On arrival I was the first angler on the complex and so I had every peg to choose from and by looking at the wind direction I chose to fish Linnet pool peg 11 which had 2 beautiful margins and a nice Corner where the scum from the lake was gathering. I decided to fish the short pole, Keeping things simple I set up a 0.2 margin float which my Dad makes, attached to 0.17 mainline with an 0.13 hooklength finished with a size 16 LWG hook.
On the bait front I was pretty limited as there’s a no ground bait rule and fishery only pellets and with my Dad being on the Marukyu pro staff I wanted to use his baits so I opted to fish 4mm cubed meat sprayed in Marukyu amino umami. I fished two of these on the hook and was feeding 4 cubes of meat on every put in . I caught a lot of carp from 5lb to 8lb throughout the day. At around 3pm I caught a big Common Carp which I think weighed around 20lb . The fish put up a Fantastic fight and whilst playing it I snapped my top kit but I still managed to land it!
