Shark conservation has come on in leaps and bounds over the past few years, thankfully. Very few anglers kill sharks. In fact, many are involved with work alongside scientists in order to provide data and secure a brighter future for shark populations.

However, conservation wasn’t always the buzzword of the day, as it patently clear from this video clip!

I don’t know a great deal about this footage, but according to the guys over on GrindTV, it was shot in 1934. You can read a bit about it here.

From an angling perspective, I look at things like this and photos of dead ‘trophy shot’ sharks and cringe. However, these things happened and, from an historical perspective, they are of interest.
