Following on from the Chub weights progression thread I started on the main forum - (see:http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/6986096-kennet-chub-weight-progression-since-1982/) I've done the same with my perch captures (thanks to Rusty for putting the idea in my head!) to see if the same uplift in weights happened at around the same time (turn of the millennium). This file IS small enough to upload on the blog as there is less data (it starts from 1990 as I didn't have enough captures before then to have anything meaningful!)

 

Again it shows and increase from 1999 though it shows a more marked increase from 2004 - which is probably due to more angling effort being put into the species after that date....

This is fish over a pound only though isn't it?

 

Be interesting if you then added your total numbers of perch caught to see if the overall average size is on the increase, but on the other hand the sub-pound fish could be 2oz or 15oz....so not much help....forget that idea :)
