  1. Like alot of others, we dont know the rules or what the EA can do, as someone said they have the power to seize goods. So what happens after that, if someone cant come up with an EA license for the date they were fishing. are they then taken to court, or after a certain time, the EA can sell of the rods at public auction, or are these people sent a fine, and if they dont pay the fine, then the seized goods are sold. I believe these days if they got out there, there would many many anglers with no license and maybe the sale of the goods could go back into the EA and fund more baliffs, then the more they have out there, the more they would catch and seize and sell, and funds would come along. the whole idea of this thread, was to see if we as anglers, can come up with ways to help the EA, either by community baliffs, or by fines, to support the EA, and give them more funds, and more eyes out there. regards sean
  2. I take it all, as i usally fish the day, and dont want to not have the gear if one method is not working. and if fishing is hard on a paticular day, i love to experiment and learn new set ups, a bit of practice you might call it. sean
  3. well done mate, but preparation is always the key. prepare well, and the fish will come. best of luck next time and let us know how you get on regards sean
  4. I recently moved, and when i viewed my new place, i said to my partner, thats good a police station at the end of the street. great, i will feel safe on a night, popping down to the local shop to buy a couple of beers, and grab me sweetcorn for fishing. Just down the road is the main town centre about a mile away with all the usual high street shops, cctv covers the town. I thought this is the place for me, some great fishing around, shops for the wife. since i moved in, i have found that the local police station closes at 5pm, when ive finished work and want to go to the local shopl. to find the youth of today, drinking, smoking, asking every passer by to go by there fags because they are under age. The town centre cctv, while seems to be very good on a night i guess, as i dont venture down there. but most of these cameras are trainned on bus lanes trying to catch motorists. I could be getting mugged, and all they would see is someone in a bus lane. or when the police are about, is when every one is at work, or the kids at school, when your likely to have a problem, the police station closes. why is this sean

    Top Bait

so male chemicals repel fish. wondered why i didnt catch a 4lber this morning...i must stop scratching my tackle lol.
  6. All im bothered about is stopping this happening, you said about police times, stats all get logged and treated the same. so now your telling me that one crime is for that, and one crime is for this. is a crime not a crime. i said i would tell you what i saw everyday about response times. you said you would PM but never did, but gave me a number. now you say phone a different number, or email them, how do i do that on the bank side. no, i have not read every post, but my last 2 post are reply to what you have advised me. hope now, that we can all see the confusion, this one topic that we all care about can cause, the what to do, who to phone, who will respond, will anyhting be done. regards sean
  7. looking at the above pole, is it worth 200 hundred regards sean

  10. Have not read all the posts, but someone said i wonder how many have actually seen. I guess its down to regions, where its happening, im in london, where i guess there is alot more of it going on, i see it every weekend i fish. the same guy trying to take fish, and the fish scales from those who have fished through the night. long trotter, i said about police call out times, and crimes, what they come out for. you gave me a crime stoppers number. ok, if i know a guy is down there tomorrow, the same guy, i will ask if he has a license, if he says no, i will call your crime stoppers number, and report the crime as you said. and i will let the forum know the outcome. whether any one turns up or not. would you say this is a fair way to go about things, after all a crime is a crime as you said and all crimes are logged. sean
  11. the greatest, for me falls between two people in two different decades you could say. Tommy cooper Billy Connolly two truely greats. sean
  12. dont know if ive been it with your toy, but my sides hurt with laughter lol. sean
  13. i have no crime to report. it was to do with police call out times, thats all.
  14. Im not going to get in a policital debate about the police force, but i see first hand the response times for certain crimes if you want to call it that. i see it everyday, and as you said your a police officer. PM me and we can discuss this further, as i dont want to do this in open chat,. you will understand when i talk to you, in confidence.
  15. Budgie, i know they dont respond, like the police dont respond to non statistic crime. They have no time to walk our streets, but the community officers do walk our streets. They can take info, they can take names addresses, and i guess this info is then past to police officers who can act. the ponit im trying to get across is that, if we had community EA baliffs, who could ask for licenses, take names address, and the likes, then as parking tickets can be handed out, cant they send out fixed penalties maybe. could the law not be changed, so that whether you have a licenses or not, if you dont have it on you while fishing, then your charged with a fixed penalty. that money like motoring offence money, could then be put back into the EA to give more resources to them. it works for motoring. why not fishing. and before all the negatives come along. im just throwing ideas around. so lets put all are heads together, to try and find an answer. as anglers we all want the same results at the end of the day. to catch fish, preserve our waters, care for our fish, so that 1lb bream you caught this year, will be 1.5lb next year and so on with all the other fish, and you want those fish to breed more fish. regards sean
  16. Thanks for the info newt, came a day to late for me lol, i think i may have had it already. my explorer kept shutting down, saying send report or not then shutting down. had to do a full reformat at the time, could not seem to fix it any other way. but thanks for the great advice, have done what you said this time. sean
  17. Best one ive seen for a while, made me laugh all day just thinking about the guy next to bomb lol. sean
  18. Because of the laws, and the local waters and what they allow, like someone said, is it a canal or river, where fish can be taken. I asked a question on another thread of a similar subject. what can we do. Because we seem to have trouble finding what is an offence and what is not. I think we should get away from, who is taking what from what waters and what rivers and canals and get back to the basics. the one thing we all have to have, is our EA ROD LICENSE. this is the only tool that we have to stop this, or get these people prosecuted. yes its hard to prove they have taken fish, on any given water. The EA are under budget, and as another thread said a few weeks ago, we are never really checked these days. The idea i have, is why we cant do what the police have done, and getting, what i call the blue hats, community police, ok they dont have the power of arrest, but are at hand to take info on people, question people and take notes, as well as call for back up, and im sure the police respond very quickly, when they call in. i know this first hand as i see it every day where i work. so why cant the EA recruit us anglers as volunteers to act as baliffs, to check licenses on the waters we fish. So instead of the official EA baliffs trying to get round waters, they can wait for calls from anglers as community baliffs, and respond more quickly. im sure these eastern europeans dont want to be caught breaking the law as they are here on visa's, its just a thought, what do you all think. regards sean

  20. Just wondering why, when your catching fish every cast, you felt the need to add more groundbait. I would have just kept loose feeding, and then go to grounbait as the bites got less dont get me wrong, im not an expert or anything, i have always wondered the same as you. regards smac
  21. I have pleasuerd for 30 years now, Go into tackle shop. i know what poundage line i want, so see a spool with 4lb line, and buy it. But looking around at web sites and the likes, there seems to be so many different types of line around. but not the help to know what they are for, the benefits, what they do, and what would be best for a given type of fishing, coarse, specimen etc. hope someone can give some good advice an point me in the right direction regards sean
  22. This is my cat princess. caught her just right lol saw one in the news of the world that made me laugh, something pointing at the kitten with its paws in the air. so thought i would start a post to see what funny pics you have of your pets.. regards sean
  23. I think, the biggest threat to our sport is fish being taken from our waters by people who have come to this country to work from europe. I live in london where there is a large amount of europeans, and no doubt this will spread further as more come in freely to work. i witness, the after math of fish taken every time i go down my local canal, fish scales all over, beer cans left by those who are fishing through the night and taking fish. i have also witnessed this on a sunday morning, a guy is there every sunday, the first time i fished the canal, he took a lovely bream around the 2lb mark, and then he bolted. he has been there the last 2 sundays, but has caught nothing, but i have my camera to hand. so when he does, i will have him.. regards sean
