  1. Best, in no particular order. Pink Floyd, Knebworth and Animals set Yes The Clash Camel R.E.M. Seth Lakeman Roger Waters Not so hot was David Gilmour at the Royal Festival Hall, we got to our seats and realised it was an un bl**dy plugged gig. After reading the comments about Clapton, I'm not so disappointed about missing out on tickets a while back.
  2. There's always a risk of opening a can of worms but at the same time surely the answer isn't to sit back and do nothing. I believe RSA has enjoyed success in the USA, does anyone know more about it?
  3. I agree with Steve, some of the points made on here are vey worrying, the more people made aware of what the future may hold, the better. We only have a very limited time to make as strong a case as possible to Jonathan Shaw.
  4. I'd been looking forward to watching it but managed to get the time wrong, does anyone know if it is going to be repeated?
  5. It conjures up an image of that comedian with the huge phone, bellowing at the top of his voice. Dom Jolly isn't it? I don't think Andrew would shout quite that loud.[
  6. Well done Andrew, superb fish. I bet it put up a good scrap.
  7. This thread has brought back memories of when I always used the bike for transport to my fishing destinations. I had a scrape with a police car in Christchurch, his fault but I was told to follow a police car back to the station. They kept me waiting for over an hour, inferring that I could well be prosecuted, I think it was to cover their mate and ensure that I didn't press charges. I had to sit in the public area, in my waders with all my gear. A very embarrassed eighteen year old. I used to carry half a dozen loaves for groundbait in a binbag on the rack. As I was passing Ashley Wood Golf Course I saw in the mirror loads of slices of bread flying through the air as the bag had gone into the rear wheel. A bit of a distraction for the early morning golfers. On the whole, it was enjoyable to combine the two passions but I don't miss the freezing cold hands on my way pike fishing on frosty mornings
  8. If the riding position is fairly upright it's easy to carry your gear. When I had a 400/4 I found that the rucksack and rod holdall were fine, I used to take right hand corners a bit slower so that the holdall didn't ground. The holdall was more stable if it had the weight of a brolly in it. My current bike is a Monster and I'd happily use that but for the fact my lurcher comes along now!
  9. Read it again, Leon "came up with the phrase", Dave Rigden "used" the phrase.
  10. Just a small point, it was actually Leon and not Dave Rigden who came up with the phrase 'van load of trophies'. I took it to be a light hearted, tongue in cheek comment, but it seems that some didn't see it as such. It is actually two trophies, East coast and largest thicklip.
  11. I am speaking as an individual member of the NMC rather than on behalf of the committee. The NMC have been promoting conservation of the species since it was formed in 1975. New members are given help and encouragement to catch what can be a difficult fish to catch. The NMC is active in angling politics to protect the sport. Muttley chose to quote very selectively from the reply he received from the NMC Chairman. It seems for some reason Muttley is trying to undermine the integrity of an organisation that does a tremendous amount of good for angling and conservation. Accepting captures on trust meant that a lot of fish were returned alive that would have otherwise been kept, especially in the early days. In tidal rivers, marinas and man-made harbours there are a lot of 'grey areas'. On some tidal rivers even the Environmental Agency officials give conflicting advice whether a rod licence is needed to fish for sea fish at these locations. Local byelaws are not always clear on many estuaries, on one of the estuaries I fish, I was told by the warden that certain areas were out of bounds. It turned out that this was not the case. If you would like to take a look at the NMC website onwww.thenationalmulletclub.org it will give you better idea of our activities and read our Code of Conduct. I am proud to be a member of the NMC and I think most people will be able to see sniping and digs for what they are. Regarding Matt Baldwin's fish, I have read the comments on this site and other correspondence and am happy with his capture even though it bumps my fish off the top spot for this year!
  12. I agree with Andrew, In have caught barbel on my mullet gear and whilst barbel put up a spirited fight mullet give a stronger account of themselves. The larger ones give some real heart stopping moments
  13. Well done Andrew, what a superb fish to start the season.
  14. The windfinder site seems to be pretty accurate most of the time. Click here: Windfinder.com - surf weather, find wind & waves
