  1. Thanks for your help guys new slosh 20 and 13 ft salt mx turned up today. looks great will give it a bash a.s.ap. Will be buying the warbird as well in the new year for the rougher ground and bigger baits. Have looked at the Suveran XP but little bit out of my price range at minute, although it looks tasty.
  2. I already pay out enough money thanks. Having to pay for a licence to fish from the beach is taking the P***.
  3. Considering buying this rod but can't decide between one of these and a fladen warbird. I am going to be putting a slosh 20 on which ever one i get. Prefer the idea of this rod as it got fugi guides. Can anyone tell me how this rod performs in windy conditions i.e does it bounce everywhere. Can it handle a 5oz lead with a big bait on rough ground? Any comments would be great as buying one or the other tomorrow and just need a bit of persuasion one way or the other.
  4. Well at least someone replied cheers. Im 99% sure im going for the sl20sh and a 12/13 ft fladen warbird. Bit sceptical about the standard of the eyes on the rod though, managed to find a couple of reviews online and they mention eyes breaking bar that it fits the bill perfect at £60. Suppose u get what you pay for, if the eyes do go over time i'll replace them with fujis. My first thought was to go second hand as you suggested but I like the assurance of if things go wrong i can take em back. It's gonna cost me £129 for the two which has well stretched the budget but worth it, just have a couple less beers over xmas.
  5. ANY IDEAS ANYONE????

    new gear

Got £90 to buy a rod and reel. Needs 2 be the following. fuji eyed or good alternative that wont keep breaking. multiplier 12, 13ft beachcaster sits niceish in the wind rather than bloody bouncing everywhere. copes well with a five ounce lead fishes rough ground. could prob stretch to another £20 at most if worth it. I know it's a tall order but any ideas would really be appreciated. cheers
  7. Thank you all for your help. I will continue to measure from the "V" though (min 45cm) because even a little helps keep this magnificent fish in our water. From your replies I can sleep at night knowing I am doing my bit for conservation. Tight Lines
  8. Can someone please put me straight on a few things. The minimum size of bass you can keep is 36cm in england and wales. Some politiacal bloke was going to up it to 40cm in england but bottled it because of commercial pressure. I have marked my measure at 45cm and have kept to this both last year and this year, and have on numerous occasions returned bass over 45cm (i.e When there is plenty of frozen pizza in) I have found it immpossible to find anywhere on the web where it tells you how to measure your bass. I have always been under the assumption that you measure from the "V" in the tail and not the end of the tail when measuring bass. If it is the "V" in the tail are all the anglers aware of this or undersize fish may be taken in error?? P.S What does "Fish spp" mean? Does it mean measure from nose to tip of tail?? Any comments on the above would be appreciated. Although lets not get too political eh as we have already been there. Tight lines all
  9. Can anyone give me some info regarding fur and feather. I do a lot of shore fishing throughout the year but it is for fun and not competition. I notice there are a lot of fur and feather "open's" on around christmas and have always wondered what it's all about. Do these comp's run from the shore aswell and if so what's the rules. Any info would be great or a good website with info would help. Sea fishing from shore only please. Hope you all had a good christmas and happy new year to you all.
  10. I return most of my fish as many people on here have also said they do. Where I fish there seems to be no end of doggies though, so I take the odd one for my cat's. A couple of times I have considered cooking one up for myself has anyone tried it themself? If you have a good recipe let us know cheers. Please no conservation on this one as although it is also a concern to me it would be nice to have one post without it .
  11. Plodding around on the net again sorry guys ! There's no octopus in this I promise but its weird all the same. P.s can anyone translate as I hope he's going to put them back ..................conservation? Check it out http://www.compfused.com/directlink/1105/
  12. I'm happy! not me that's moaning........recentley joined though.
  13. ''Welcome'' I've recently joined myself and suggest the following; Try danglers Net for just fishing! AnglersNet is for fishing and anything whatsoever that is associated with fishing. It could be fishing tips, fishing trips or even politics that threaten our sport it's all on here. It's good to be in the know. >considering e-mailing Mr Blair regarding shark fishing trip although not sure what to use as bait??? I have a good idea but i don't think it would be POLITICALY correct.
  14. I've plodding around the net today and bumped into this video. It might be worth checking out if you get the time. Just type "Octopus eats shark" and check out the google video. Sorry i didn't want to put a link in as I am not sure wether I need their permission to do that???
  15. not a yak man myself but well done and great write up.
