  1. Al can you tell me the battery size, as its shorter than a 3 x AAA size 1.5 volt?
  2. Good to see you two are keeping your hand in, both garden and fishing which I due to health dont do much nowadays. My daughter was on the phone last night from leicester area, said it had bucketed down all day, had to laugh as up here in Scotland it had been sunny all day; makes a change Ha ha. Well as i do not log on very often all of you AN members Tight lines for the rest of the year
  3. Sorry for pinching your thread Shaun, but have to say Hi to Blindog and Snatcher after so long away from the forum, been busy with me RC Cars etc. and with the builders in the flat, still trying to get it sorted out again now.
  4. You could do a demo in the interval Norrie and ferrett its electric we run indoors sorry but we are trying to get an outdoor venue for the club for on and off road, so keep watching as that would probably be on Saturdays or Sundays like our buggy section is at the moment
  5. Like pumphypete, I did not know him but such sad news about a fellow angler is very upsetting, pass on my condolences to his family too; plus at least he will not suffer any more and be able to fish all those dream spots he always wanted to and never got the chance to before; tight lines always for him
  6. Hi Paul, glad to hear you still have your cars, it will probably go on till 6pm ish at least. Why not ask on the clubs forum if anyone remembers you, we have members from Ayr, Penicuk, Tayracers, Stonehaven, Dunfermline and other clubs who race with us too. We might even get you back in the sport again Ha Ha; would be nice to see you at the meet if you make it, it is supposed to be wireless viewable if all goes well, see article on frcc forum Malky Why not come and race then Ferret, it would be nice to meet you?
  7. Hi all, for those who will not be fishing and would like to donate at the event, its this coming Sunday 17th December 2006 at the Bowhouse Community Centre Grangemouth. Its an indoor carpet track race for saloon cars 1/10th scale. We raised with others last year £20,ooo+ for the little girl who needed a bone marrow replacement , and hope to better that this year. Starts circa 10.00 am See yer there if you can make it PS RC is my other hobby if you did not guess it Ha Ha
  8. I have used Hard as Nails nail varnish, the one that has nylon in it; I also use it for my epoxy nymphs, it does not crack like most varnishes and is flexible and waterproof; hope this answers your query
  9. Well done Charles, its refreshing to see good all round fishing programmes on TV. I also agree with you about being yourself, too many presenters try to be what they are not and it shows; although they never realise it. Finally remember that old saying; You can please most of the people most of the time, but not all of them all of the time. So keep the programmes coming I for one never miss it Malky
  10. Hi Dave pity due to health I don't do that much sea fishing any more, sorry to hear that the commercials are slowly demolishing the prospective new stocks of Atlantic tuna; they will learn when its too late as usual, money rules Eh. I sure miss the thrill of trolling along just off the drop-offs, with 4 or 5 rods, 2 on outriggers. Deep cobalt blue water one side and aqua blue water the other side of the boat; looking for the bait pod or that bit of flotsum that hold the fish around it. When just as your about to say to yourself the bar is calling, theres a zing scream and smoke pouring out of one or more reels drag --------- panic stations -------- which rod do I pick up? --------- whats my B mate doing? ---------- Help ------------- O sxd it that ones off --------next rod -------Ah thats definitely well on, wheres the chair? ------- need water more water - to drink you B fool ------------ and eventually get the leader this time (after how much time?) gotcha Oh what a beauty, thats enough for the pot for a long time me thinks let the rest get bigger so I and others can have the thrill. Thats cutting it short as I used to fish solo in a Shetland personell carrier fully foame ( unsinkable ) with radio, depth sounder graph, compass and neaqrly always in vague sight of land, another radio with direction finder helped when out of sight of land, did not have the now essential GPS then. Good Luck and tight line to all who go for the Tuna where ever though
  11. You will have to try it in the Irish sea then for the pelargics that are there stan says; should be good supping area too I guess
  12. I would go for the wt fwd option and up a weight, as most factory built rods are rated at their average, usually one weight down from the proper one. What distance can you acheive with normal flies and lures, as pike ones will be slightly less even when double hauling. As a by the way, stan of Alba Rods rebuilt one of my centenary 4 pce rods and it was fantastic compared to the original; something to do with the blanks spine not having been all in line and the eye spacing. I got a 6 ft. 3wt 2 pce built by him and can cast normal flies the same distance as my original centenary 7 wt with ease as an example. Good Luck with the Pike anyway and tight lines
  13. Hi Norrie, glad to see you and the wife are going for Yellowfin. I hope you both have the stamina and strength to fight this obstinate fish, you get them just out of reach of the boat and they decide its time to go back to the bottom and whoa there you are starting to haul them up again and again and again until you get in your mind this time or cut the line; at least that was how I felt with the 79 kilo one I caught off Lagos Nigeria before the fishing there was spoilt. Ghana or Ivory coast is probably where they are when coastal cruising now I would think, but check it out before you book, IGFA reps in the area should know. Cheers and dont forget the reel where ever you go, with plenty of line too Ha Ha
  14. I agree with you M8 in every thing said especially about Carron Valley, its really gone down hill from the good old days. As for stock ponds as it was put; at least Wellsfield has good quality fighting fish in it IMHO, perhaps we should meet up up there Eh?
