  1. I tried those numbers today both are unavailable .I remember Leeds took it over then sold it on ,i just can't get any news of it on the web all of it seems to be outdated .Fishing north Yorkshire doesn't have any up to date news ,and i heard Gus moved on to Ireland .I'm going to head down there if it's closed i'll plod on to green lane ponds or Cornhill farm ponds .Anyone know of these to places ,has anyone tried them out .Thanks.
  2. Hello people of Britain ,does anyone know if Catterick fishing complex is still open for day tickets .I've tried getting info on the place all over the web ,but to no avail .If not does anyone know about green lane lakes are they any good ,because it's quite close to catterick complex .thanks in advance .
  3. hello mike, your rod is fine for fishing.baits i would use for any fish are maggots, caster(maggot cocoons)make sure they are sinkers and not floaters older casters go very dark and float.sweetcorn is good for most fish, sweetcorn and worm cocktail are good for bream, bread as flake or punched bread, small cubes of meat like bacon grill, spam, luncheon meat carp like meat tench too.halibut pellets for carp and tench i had a good few bigger roach on them aswell.i find maggots draw in loads of fish, but caster over the top of your loose feed can get you a bigger stamp of roach.small perch don't seem as keen to eat casters.hemp is a superb loose feed buy some from a pet store boil it for an hour or until it splits and shows the white inside great for getting tench on the feed.there are loads more you try anything realy baked beans, pulses like barley, wheat and stuff.I find flavouring maggots on heavily pressured water can give you an edge bit of curry powder or paprika any spice you fancy.sorry for waffling but this list could be endless. For general fishing something like maggot and caster some sweetcorn worms, little hemp.Good baits that have served me well.good luck with your fishing.
  4. I had my first session fishing for coarse fish on a commercial lake with a relative.I caught 3 carp of about 5lb+ on a waggler, and it was amazing i also caught many roach of about 4oz.I have been fishing now atleast 2 times a week since for about 3 years and i like to fish for the smaller of the spiecies now on club waters where there is not the density of fish, and is more taxing on the cells, but that is down to my choice now and my anglersnet education. To read you guys posting post and answers to questions i haven't even thought about asking yet it's amazing.I'm 38 and wished someone had taken me sooner i now take my young sons which is a thrill in itself they only catch small stuff on a whip but hey it gets them stoked.everyone out there fishing should take a friend or family member to any type of lake commercial private club or syndicate for any species just make sure they catch something, and get them hooked on fishing. love all fish and there fishermen
  5. Hello banjo the shots are used to anchor your float in place, then you can balance the float with more shot nipped on your line so about 1cm of float is showing. This will register a bite on the float when a fish picks your bait up you will see it get drawn down and then you lift into the fish or strike. The wieght is for ledgering on the bottom this also is held in place by a nipped on shot about a foot from your hook you can experiment with differing size hook lengths.check out a knot tying site for some basic knots.I use a clinch knot it's easy and reliable. Goodluck with your fishing.
  6. Why does everyone think the goverment would ban fishing over some lead in swans what they probably picked up from years gone by when anglers used it.This is a pastime for the masses millions of anglers. They get millions in taxes every year from there rod licence .Billions of pounds are put into the economy every year through fishing related business tens of thousands of jobs .Most fisherman look after there quarry and treat it with respect.A few swans aint gonna mess with the tax mans cash .They let grown men die in iraq and afganistan with no regard about lead content in bullets, becouse there getting there moneys worth "it's called rebiulding in iraq" .A bit of lost tackle happens now and then it's just unlucky,if a bird eats it then its just another casualty they will ignore.MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND,AND THE TAX MAN GETS HIS.Anti's are there to try and spoil the gravy train for the tax man. There wasn,t enough money in Fox hunting thats why it was banned. If there had of been then they would still be chasing them around, and don't kid yourself it was banned becouse it was cruel.War is cruel but were still in two becouse the money train is there.A few swans an bit of lead ain't gonna stop fishing it's laughable.
  7. I fished my club water the other day was fishing floating baits an the moor hen was pickng them up an taking the bait into the bank for its chicks, and with a little tug you got the bird to drop it right on the edge of the bank were the wind took the biscuits over time. The carp patrol close to the edge within a bout a minute i caught a nice fish.So they can come in handy aswell .
  8. maxaldo chill at least you caught fish.last week i had a blank day with 3 bites all of which i missed on a lake where i should have bagged up .It's part of fishing just makes you want to improve your game m8. tightlines
  9. Hello rolo try hooking your sweetcorn through the front leaving it about an inch or two over depth also for commercials try little pellet sized bits of luncheon meat or bacon grill small cubes with or without the hooks buried, and don't neglect the margins i've caught some of my best fish close into the bank.goodluck.
  10. Thankyou rabbit and fruitloopy very helpful infomation.I do worry about the angry land owner or police, and yes i own a rod liscence it is essential while fishing saves the fine.I fished the river coquet once and got a message on the windscreen of my car saying they knew what i was doing and had taken the registration of my car and were going to hand it to police. They never got in touch mind still off putting though.I need to have a good google on the earth near me,and get some backbone and go. bubbie.
  11. How do you go about this brookes and streams fishing.Do you just search for streams on a map then heod on over.Isn't it illegal does your rod liscence cover you for this. How do you find out who owns it.can i just go out and fish any brooke or stream?.please get back to me let me know sounds incredible.
  12. You know the real shame of it people acctually do all the above. so sad
  13. i would have voted for gudgeon but it wasn't up so carp got the nod.i have caught many 6 inch carp that have fought for there life, and give great account of themselves.as do similar size tench.roach and rudd just dont have the muscle.i havent had the pleasure of a barbel so i can't compare.larger carp on light tackle are monsters i had a 18lber on six pound line and a match rod it was a white knuckle thrill ride i would take every day.If you caught the same fish on carp rod an heavy line then it wouldn't be the same.So alot of it comes down to your tactics at the time of capture.
  14. I fished a free lake the other day,and it was like you have just described.Filth all over beer cans, packets, tins, broken pegs.obligatory chav's with there carp rods, sea hooks, and bite alarms, and i had my best days fishing this year sitting in the middle of it.had three nice 4lb+ tench and proper bag of silvers.Such a shame people don't respect what they have got.I cleaned up after myself it takes no time to put your crap away keep britain tidy.I was raised on that you get some lazy so and so's who just throw there crap in the grass and becouse someone else see's it they do the same.just lazy and not just free waters aswell my club has it's share of litter bugs. KEEP BRITAIN TIDY shaun
