  1. The Helicopter rig is a great feeder rig. I did some pic's of basic feeder rigs for here years ago. http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/rigs/feeder-rigs/
  2. Nice one Rusty. Thats the best way to straighten your line.
  3. Based on that race, it would be a travesty if Rosberg becomes world champ. He's gutless. Well done Hammy.
  4. Good timing this Androo. I remember reading 30 odd years ago of the first otter sightings for many years on the upper Hodder (a Ribble tributary). About 10 years ago I started finding a few ottered skimmers (in winter mainly) on a still water linked by a stream to the mid ribble (still too many skimmers in that water). Around the same time I did a bit of googling and found a report that said there was 6 known pairs on the ribble catchment. About five years ago I started finding tracks and spraints on the lower ribble so knew they were about, but never saw one. Out sea trouting last night and while sitting about waiting for it to go dark movement in the margins on the far bank (50 yards across the river) that I first thought was a duck turn out to be my first ribble otter sighting. To make it even better another one soon turned up and I was given 20 minutes of them play fighting and messing about. 30 odd years ago the mid ribble had very few if any barbel in it. Its now stuff with them and plenty chub, dace, roach,...........
  5. I've never really believed anglers should be the ones picking up the bill to police our waters and clean up from others, some of whom that make vast profits while making our waters dirty. At least they seem to have had the sense to stop charging kids.
  6. Me thinks you should look again.
  7. Sounds very civilized. My desire for a good trotting peg being what it is, I'm not sure some of my mooring last year on the Severn was quite as shown in the handbook. I bet them big heavy numb narrow boats would take a bit of unbeaching if you ran it aground.
  8. Nice one Ian. Have you moved to the Bahama's? Its been snowing here today and still is.
  9. Not cheap Ian, but I would much sooner have a go at knocking up 2 or 3 fancy looking float tubes than a top end split cane rod. May be I'm getting tight, but for me to pay £600 for a float tube, it would need to have a 1lb 24ct gold bung in the end and be signed by god.
  10. Just in case anyone fancies a float tube. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Edward-Barder-Bamboo-Float-Tube-Colin-Whitehouse-Floats-/301873285078?hash=item46490cc7d6:g:JwcAAOSwUuFWwaoe
  11. Its kind a therapeutic dragging that little surfer about. Good job he wasn't there at christmas or he might have banged his head.
  12. Mad as ever Ian and always up for a spot of fishing. Just need a titchy gap in this rain and i'll be out.
  13. They may even fancy some cheep floats to go with it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CHRIS-LYTHE-Set-of-3-Cane-Stemed-Avons-Traditional-Handmade-Fishing-Float-/281923721312?hash=item41a3f69860:g:2fQAAOSwJb9WrjtO
  14. Were they well down John? I was just reading a report on the Norfolk Broads Championship Match. Seemed to report a good day with good bags of silvers being caught.
  15. http://www.anglingtimes.fishing/Angling-Times/Section/News--Catches/General-News/A-million-new-fish-to-be-stocked-into-venues-nationwide/ Big silly carp aside, why would it be music to my ears to hear that we are stocking shed loads of fish? Think I would be much happier to hear we didn't need to stock any and all our waters are healthy and self sustaining.
  16. http://www.anglingtimes.fishing/Angling-Times/Section/News--Catches/General-News/Norfolk-Broads-stocks-bouncing-back/ Is it possible recent fish kills have done more good than harm there?
  17. If your still scratching your head Dave, I was taught to think of fractions are a piece of cake. Cut a cake up into the number of pieces your working with and times it by the number of pieces you have. So 13/16 as a decimal would be (1 divided by 16 times 13) 0.8125 and 7/8 would be (1 divided by 8 times 7) 0.875 The decimal sum for your piece of wood would be 7.8125 x 5.875 = 45.8984375
  18. And it looks like VW may be trying to get a foot in the door. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/34297046
  19. In a shallow 6ft swim I think this tactic tends to work pretty well as the sinking arc of your feeder tends to brings the feeder to the front edge of your feed. The problems with this tactic start in deeper water is the feeder isn't sinking in a 50yrd arc as the feeder sinks way faster than your line and gets pulled towards you as it sinks on a very short arc. Spoding soft groundbait lacks control as its almost impossible to know where it will end up.
  20. Nice one Ian. Just got back from a couple of weeks on the Severn with the Family where had a bit of a species hunt going on for fun. A week and a half in and we had to target barbel because we hadn't caught one. Wouldn't have been like that on the ribble.
  21. I was on 10p a worm from the tackle shop ( they got 20p) 20 years ago.
  22. Nice one Ian. Looks like there's a bit of extra water on to freshen it up a bit today. It was starting to look a bit sad.
  23. As you say Peter the weather is a "total turd". It was warmer in May than it is now. I'm not sure we are having a summer. Looking out of the window this morning I can see the appeal of staying in bed with the Xbox controller.
  24. Why do you like cooking and washing Ian?
