I think an amalgamated body is a must in the present social environment of this country, every group from PETA, the RSPB and even commercial fishing interests seem better organised and more resourceful than angling bodies. My hope is that this super body does not leave us thousands of pleasure anglers behind and finds a way to get us involved.

This worries me the reason being the majority of Britain's do not understand catch and release, in fact its only us anglers that care about the well being of fish stock, how many times have you been fishing and a neighbor or passer bye has asked "any for the pot ?". If this 'alternative food source' to use the hip phrase catches on I can see our 'public rivers and park lakes' getting pillaged by one day anglers having a bit of fun and getting something for the pot into the bargain. If this is the road we are being forced down at least bring in legislation to protect wild fish stocks first and police any laws.
