  1. hey, its been a while since ive posted on here and i was just wondering if you could give me a bit of help. in august i was down stamford/oakham at wing lakes, and i came up with a couple of 7lbers, now i was using maggots there and was getting many bites, so shall i just stick with the same tactics as i did in the summer or should i try something else? it says groundbait isnt allowed but theres never a ballif around at all, he only comes once on the morning then afternoon to get the £5 day ticket payment. so do you have any tactics?
  2. thanks for the info, because the last few times ive been to my club lake i have blanked, but during hte spawning period i was there scouting and i must of seen around 200 carp bigger 10lbs +. and the lake its self isnt big at all. so this time ive decided to go all out with bait etc...., cheers

  7. how would i go about obtaining some land? would i need to contact my local council and what have you?
  8. cheers for the information, do you have any other websites or know of any that have plots of land for sale on them for reasonable prices.
  9. i dont have land, wouldnt no where to look for land but it would be in the in or around the newcastle area. i have a quite a nice sum saved up so far from over the past few years, but i know it wouldnt be enough, i just want to see how much i would need at a rough estimate and yes i would be looking to stock it.
  10. i was just sitting there wondering to myself, how much would it cost to build a lake/pond on a 1 or 2 acre site? does anyone have any rough estimates?
  11. i was just sitting there thinking and i was wondering to myself, how much would it cost alone to build a 1 or 2 acre lake/pond for carp/coarse fishing? anyone got any rough estimates?
  12. just take alook at this video, it is just shocking, you may get quite a shock at this video, because i did..it just makes you wonder how many of those boats are out there doing this.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6N796v5Lhs4
  13. na i didnt think to freeline , and the wind kept blowing my waggler off course so i didnt bother, plus i could see 10 or so big carp around the little pads so i casted right just before the lily pads and got the swim going with a maggot feeder, and the carp began taking them, i must of lost 2 or 3 decent sized fish aswell..but its a great venue if you like the quietness and peace
  14. standing up was a spur of the moment thing lol.....coz when i was kneeling down the sun was right in the corner of the picture and making it blur and be to bright..but ill definently keep that in mind ..cheers
  15. does any one no of any carp fishing holidays or camp sites which carp lakes on site? within newcastle and the yorkshire area?
  16. well ive just got back from my 2 days fishing a wing lakes, and it was a pretty good 2 days i would say, plenty of little carp around, and plenty of big ones aswell, the lakes were nice and tidy, no rubbish what so ever, although i would say there were to many lily pads in some places on the lakes, but i had a very very good 2 days, i camped at the wing lakes camp site and the lakes were only a 10 minute hike down a hill and or a 2 minute ride in the car,.. the scenary was nice, and the lakes were even better.. on the 1st day fishing was slow, i caught a dozen or so little carp over 1lb but nothing big on that day, then the 2nd day came along and i tryed a new spot and i used the maggot feeder this time and it came up with a result, i caught a couple of 7lb common carp on that day along with the smallest mirror carp i have ever seen. also my girlfriend caught her 1st carp even though it wasnt a big 1 she was still pleased. i would recommend wing lakes as it is in a nice quiet place to fish, there is no rowdy youths to bother you, the place is very very tidy, and its only £6 per night to camp and £5 per day to fish. here are some pictures.
  17. does anyone know of any good carp/coarse fishing lakes in between newcastle and yorkshire?

  19. hi, im going to be going to wing lakes next week and so far it says on wednesday the wind is going to be 23mph, will that effect my fishing much? as i am using the maggot feeder method plus bite alarms set up
  20. does anyone have any web links to any decent course or carp fishing magazines which i could subscribe to, i know ive probably posted a topic on this but your help would be appreciated, cheers
  21. im going to be fishing next thursday and friday at wing lakes near rutland, ill be using the maggot feeder on 2 of my rods and probably sweetcorn on the other, should those methods do fine as long as i keep the swim going?
  22. what kind of maggot feeders are best to use for carp, as the place i am going doesnt allowed groundbait so therefore i need to change to a maggot feeder which is said to be the best method there, and ive looked on ebay for maggot feeders and theres loads of different ones, so which ones would be best?
  23. hi, welcome to anglersnet net. what i would recommend is going down to your local fishing shop if theres one close buy and tell him your situation that your son wants to start fishing, if he wants to fish for mackerel then let the guy in the fishing store know that, but what i would recommend is maybe a rod suitable for beach fishing and maybe fishing from a pier, then that way you can use that kind of rod to fish for any kind of fish, some fishing shops do some good deals on beachcaster rods, like down here in newcastle my local store does some good deals on shakespear rods, its like £35 for a rod and reel, weights and hooks are cheap, then all you need is some bait then your sorted really, but like i said just go down to your local fishing store and tell them your situation and im sure they would be more than happy to help
  24. cheers for the info STC, i appreciate it... im off to stamford on monday to visit family, and im going to give wing fishing lakes , i shall get those stuff you suggested and give it ago, but ive also heard that they dont allow you to use groundbait or boilies... if that is the case and you arent allowed groundbait or boilies, does that generally mean the stocks of fish are good?, they did say they are good and on average you'll catch a 15lb carp every time your there ...
