  1. Last nights was the last in the series and I actually really enjoyed it Missed the stingray so was cool to see that and the format was better with less of the twit moaning away and more fishing as he counted down his top 10 fish of the series. Wasn't surprised to see the blue marlin at the top as that really is the holy grail of sport fishing, was happy to see them releasign it too to fight another day. What strikes me about the whole programme is others/guides doing all the hard work in locating the fish, baiting up etc only to have to hand the rod over to him....gutted!
  2. Better get on the blower to Catfish Pro for some decent hooklink!
  3. Ordered mine 3 weeks ago and still nothing Can't be arsed to waste my money phoning up people and being put on hold etc so I'm just going to carry the reciept with me.....not my fault if the EA/post office are a bunch of incompetant muppets
  4. Good old corn & maggots then...nice to see nothing overly complicated/fancy being used I have a very nice 2/3 acre gravel pit near me which I know holds tench to 9lb as I've witnessed an angler weigh one back in October...very, very weedy though and once it gets going I can imagine it's pretty tricky to fish
  5. Very nice, Tench are quite beautiful fish Never caught one myself, must get out and give it a go....what was the method/bait you used?
  6. Don't usually bother myself but having one cold lager whilst sea fishing on a hot day can be really nice. Seems to go hand in hand with builder/pub types/carpers and overnight sessions and local scallies down the river...you certainly know they've been there from all the litter
  7. I can really syympathise with you on this one, this year seems to have been so dire in some places of the country. There are lakes and swims that I fish owhich have been VERY reliable over the years, this year blank after blank at these places. I'm even thinking of fishing carp commercials now just to try and catch some fish....things have got bad! Stick with it, maybe a change of species could save things?
  8. Was it on last night (Monday), if it was a tad gutted I missed it as the preview looked pretty full on with cats and freshwater stingray
  9. Never been checked myself but would welcome more enforcement of rod licences
  10. Good show on Monday, blimey did that Tuna pull...he was in bits trying to get it to the boat!
  11. I have brought a few copies of IYCF but it seemed like a mag for complete noddies (same articles about tying hair rigs every month, surely you would have got it after the first one!) I usually buy a copy of CAT but only after I've had a sift through it to see if there are any decent articles. Sometimes has some good barbel stuff in it along with some interesting bits from Bob Church & Mike Green
  12. Good to hear some companies give a damn about their customers! Always liked Shakespeare stuff, not rated by the tarts but good kit. Recently brought an Ugly Stik spinning rod and was impressed by it considering how cheap it was
  13. Nice fish, I'm glad the season ended well for some people!
  14. Utterly pointless unless enforced properly (which it isn't) by the EA I'd love to get that feeling of exploring new swims where anglers haven't been before on June the 16th but I'm afraid all I'll see is beer cans, litter, eastern european lure and trace packets and scotch marks on th ground from jolly bankside BBQs
  15. Brilliant, stories like that really make you realise how we don't actually need all the stuff we buy for fishing to actually catch fish!
  16. Generally I have more confidence on a breezy SW wind and some cloud cover when using lures
  17. Have to agree with you on the 2007 floods Anderoo, seems my local stretch of river has noticably changed for the worse since then. It's very odd that before that even you could go out and catch 4/5 double figure pike in a day and now you struggle to catch even a single jack using any method from the same swims etc. Sad times really, I wonder how long it does take to recover?
  18. Agree Steve, makes F-all difference to some people Found a couple of guys fishing the river on Sunday who clearly weren't noddies so definately not just kids and the poles
  19. lol Does seem way to small to have 2 hooks on!
  20. Diabolical For me that had to be the worst season I've ever had and has spoiled my love & enthusiasm to pike fish All I can hope for is that things improve, I'll be trying some new venues and old favourites this spring/summer plus some new tactics (carp on the fly) so I should be able to recover it!
  21. Would have looked great in a cabinet lol TBH that fish must be pretty close to the end of it's days anyway but good on him for doing the right thing and putting it back safely...I'm in no doubt there will be plenty queing up though to try and best the record with a recapture
  22. Ended the season on a bit of a low really with a blank but wasn't surprised...tried lots of different spots with only the odd chub knock here and there Worst of all though is I fell in up to my chest negotiating some tricky bank and ended up spending the last hour soaked through...says it all Lucks got to change sometime!
  23. Conditions looking really good here on the Avon, just typical as the rivers are about to close! Got the green light to go out for the whole day so am taking every bait I can get in my bag and start early to try and catch some of teh big river carp and barbel
  24. Brought Anglers mail yesterday and a lot of talk about this fish 33lb zander was interesting...that angler puts david blaine to shame, have no idea how he's holding it at the back at all! Catch reports amusing as well, love the 31lb 'cracker' of a pike....if that's a 31lb fish I'm the pope! To top it all off there's an article of a carper turned piker, well it's not that difficult to swap boilies for deadbaits, sling them out and sit on your arse. Still, I did see a pic of Mr Goble in there (if it's real)....good to see an old boy catching such a fish
  25. Still good to see nature can throw up some surprises Must be one of the most notable catches of all time, river 30s are rare but 40s even more so
