  1. Hi Elton, John Knox was known as oldmouldy he was a good friend of mine who lived for fishing. Sadly passed in Nov last year. Regards Martin.
  2. If in any doubt put them back. If you have enough for your needs put them back. Really easy to follow. MartinG
  3. First trip out of Whitby this year on Sarah Michelle with Paul Drinkwater. Fri was a nice day overcast but only a breeze to waken you up. 1st drop nice 7lb coddling then a few ling nothing big but keepers all the same steady day with a few 5lbers coming aboard the usual blegs + some nice whitting around the 1 1/2 - 2lb mark. In the afternoon myselfe and my mate (65 years young) went makkie bashing i pulled em in he took em off 53 in 20 minutes nice big fat uns. 6 of us on board everyone a happy customer . Sat was much the same but some nice ling upto 15lb and plenty coddling around 4 -5lb. The whitting where about but a lot where returned as was ALL the undersized fish the makkies where there and another 30 hit the fish box then they just disapered but by this time the wind had picked up and a few green faces appeared plus the acrobatics started the best being the flying fisherman in off another one into the water bucket with a half twist!!! no harm done. Nice steam back in to Whitby 9 on Sat again everyone happy with there catch : .

  8. Is it just me or does anyone else out there think that as anglers we have forgotten that this is a hobby, activity,or sport!!. All this banter about RSA rod licence's and catch limit's are not an issue with people who like fishing as a HOBBY. It seem's to me that quite a lot of people out there just want to go out and catch as much as they can. Ok we all like to put a bit of fish in the freezer but if you catch enough practice catch and release and save some for the next time your out on a day's fishing. Davy Holt fishes for Skate and put's every one back (AS ALL SKATE FISHERMEN SOULD) and treat's them with respect because it's the thrill of catching the big one not to butcher them for the table. The man has a high regard for the species. How many out there can say the same about Cod, Ling, or any other fish. Guy's this is about a day out fishing enjoying the catch and the banter with other people you meet along the way not" let's get as many as we can regardless of size". I have seen guy's taking fish that are under size and when i have said they sould go back the reply is I HAVE PAID EX AMOUNT OF £'S TO COME HERE. Remember the small one's are tommorow's big one's!!! Mick was there as always (but caugt nowt big enough to e-mail you with i take it ) I had a 51/2 lb Bass which was eaten last night with great delight!!!. JB was in Hartlepool with Mick on Sun looking his boat over. He seem's quite keen on his new venture??? Regards Martin
  11. Barry. We will be going in April for a weekend fishing Sat/Sun if your on for it i will book with Dave. I will be dipping my line in Goa in 2 week's so finger's crossed MartinG
  12. We went out with Dave Gibson on "Lady Go Diver". Monday was a brilliant sunny day with a breeze the tide was a big one so the Bass wern't there so we started on the Black Bream. Great sporting fish on light tackle fish up to 3 1/2lb over the day 30 keepers and load's put back to catch another day. Quite a lot of Pouting about and Red Gurnard. Tues the same as mon great day's fishing on the Bream 20 in the freezer + small Bass,Codling,Pollack. On the way in we stopped for Squid but caught Cuttle fish (which the landlady asked for). A bonus Conger 15lb came aboard. Wed The wind picked up and it was blowing a bit but we set out late with the intention of staying out later for the Squid. They like the dark. But after being blown about all day we abandond ship and went to the pub leaving just 1 of our team on board to go back out for Squids which where by this time feeding. The biggest being 4ft long!!. Thurs was an ideal Bassing tide and drift. So off we went in to the "Race" This is one rough piece of sea and first drop i got a 5 1/2lb Bass straight back down and in again heavier one this time but alas it took off under the boat near the top and snapped on the keel my heart sank the first was a personal best but to loose a bigger one well!! Gutted. Not much on the Bass after as the wind and tide picked up. So off to look for channel whiting none about so back to the Bream, Squid & cuttle's. Overall a very enjoyable 4 day's the skipper (who his always on the button) is one of the best i have been to sea with and Ken his boatman was full of usefull bit's and bat's which worked for me. MartinG
  13. Glad to see you had a good trip Barry. We are off mon-thurs hopfuly for Bass.
