  1. Hello all, I've finally decided it's time to invest in a match seat box and am unsure what criteria I should be considering. I fish mostly with a pole nowadays and usually at the 11-13 metre length. However, I do also have occasion to use the feeder. Can anyone offer some tips from your experiences which will help me with my buying decision? Tight lines, Ross
  2. A local angler chose to wear shorts while fishing and picked up several ticks which he didn't think anything about. Unfortunately he contracted Lyme disease and is now very ill. Just wanted to post this to remind all you anglers about Lyme disease!!!! Always best to cover up in overgrown locations.....especially your legs. PLEASE PASS THE WORD AROUND!!!!!!!! Ross
  3. Hi all, I'm sure this is a well worn subject so please indulge me maybe one more time, please. I have seen many recipes for boilies on the net but am still never sure about the total list of ingredients I need to make my own and the amounts of each ingredient. Each recipe I've seen seems to think that the person already knows the basics. So, any help for a guy who'd like to make a variety of boilie flavours but doesn't want to spend a tenner a bag at my local shops!!! Cheers, Ross
  4. Cheers Phil Mayo.....of course...... it's obvious when you think about it LOL. Have you had any experience of using Vitalin dog food or similar? All the big Carp boys seem to mention it. Ross
  5. Hi Phil, What hookbaits were you using to get the roach and bream? Ross
  6. Ewe nuts are feed that farmers use specifically for sheep. The ones I know of are 5mm pellets, high protein with all the usual ingredients including molasses, so are sweet and oily rather than fishy. You can get a 25Kilo bag for certainly less than a tenner.....farmers buy them in bulk for about a fiver. I'm interested in hearing about anyone using these types of animal feeds and how they use them. Ross
  7. What did you use for hookbaits? Ross
  8. Thanks chaps.....I'll check those out. Ross
  9. Hi everyone. I'm new to the site and this is my first post.....so here goes. Many years ago when fishing in County Cavan, Eire we bought loose feed and groundbait from the local animal feed place. I can't remember the feed but it worked very well on the Lough Bream. Now, spending my years fishing the rivers, drains etc of Somerset I thought to myself.... " Surely there is a cheaper option to the multitude of shop bought crumb and mixes we can now get"? Why it's taken so long for me to think about this escapes me LOL. I have heard of people using Vitalin and Ewe Nuts for carp fishing but not heard of anybodies experiences using these type of feeds for Silvers etc Can anyone out there offer any words of wisdom on this subject??????
