  1. In my Programs/Common Files I have a file named Installshield that I wish to remove (this whole uninvited programme is worse than Norton to get rid of). When I try to delete the file I get the message, "Cannot delete issch.exe. Access denied make sure the disk in not full, or write protected etc...." Any simple suggestions how to get rid of this , please ?
  2. Newt, a lot of Forums manually validate their members (one validates up to 50 per day). The member registers and receives the auto response which they have to acknowledge, this reduces a lot of the Spammers. If they get to User Validation mode they are persistent. At the point of Admin Validation, check their IP (http://whatismyipaddress.com/ )and if its from a known Spam source, like Russia, Phillipines, Korea, etc., you can almost guarantee they are Spammers, however the second check is post their registering email addy on Google. There are loads of Spam catcher sites out there that will flag up the dodgy email address immediately. Anyway, its nothing to do with me, you have what ever procedures you want. I was merely supporting PhilBo's comments. I use to get quite frustrated when people I had recommended here came back and moaned, I don't anymore.
  3. I joined 8 years ago so I can't remember what was on the registering page then, probably just the word "welcome". I am not denying that the information that your first 15 posts are subject to Mod Approval, is probably stated clearly somewhere, but its the fact that it is deemed necessary that frustrates most people. We do not have full time Moderators, which is understandable and everyone appreciates that they give their time selflessly, but it does take the spontaneity away sometimes when you are waiting to be "approved". I am a member of a lots of Forums and most are bigger than AN, they don't have the same Mod Approval requirement. Whether it is necessary on here was really my main point.
  4. I appreciate the reason for this policy, but I have directed quite a few people towards this Forum that find it frustrating and no longer visit. Perhaps there is an alternative.
  5. If you believe he did it, then the whole situation from his release to his joyous reception in Libya is deplorable. If you believe he was just an innocent, or partly innocent dupe, thrown to the authorities as a sop by Gaddafi, , then its not so bad. What was disgusting, was the long drawn out spiel from MacAskill when he announced the decision, I heard it live on Radio 4. It was as though he was announcing the decision of the Judges on Strictly Come Dancing, long pauses before he made any significant statements and the interceding waffle about compassion and every other word was "I". If he thought this was going to announce his arrival on the world stage for statesmen, he was sadly deluded.
  6. Nice fish. Do you tag and release them, as you do the skate ? We tagged one off the west coast of Ireland a couple of years ago and six months later it was caught in tuna nets off the Azores (and released). They cover an amazing amount of miles.
  7. Weren't they Musketeers, (I know Three in One is an oil )?
  8. I come from the, "everyone is entitled to an opinion" camp and thought he was as patronisingly smug, as she was wide eyed and weird. I must confess I gave up after the third video, as I started to grow a third nipple.
  9. Don't waste your time with all that cycling malarkey, just stop drinking the cream soda. As leon says, don't forget to take plenty of bottled water with you, but remember when you have finished it, just toss the bottles on to the grass verge like most of the other cyclists (we witness this regularly )
  10. I took my daughters to the Wembley Arena concert and (although not a great fan) it was one of the most memorable evenings in my long life. One of the all time great Entertainers (and music innovators) without a doubt. As Den said, none of the claims against him were ever proved and I tend to believe in "innocent until proven guilty".
  11. Thats excellent news and I can imagine your relief now its all over. Now comes the hard bit, doing what you are told and not rushing anything, take it easy and give nature a chance to mend everything.
  12. Well done to all the hard workers, it is appreciated.
  13. In fairness I don't think you can blame anyone reporting a possible crime for wishing to remain anonymous. A lot of people don't bother, just through fear of repercussions. Whilst we may not wish to think that fish are stolen for selling on as bait, restocking, or sale as food, that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
  14. Just because the companies that advertise this hunting don't specify that all the meat is eaten, that doesn't mean to say that it isn't. I wasn't being adversarial about the numbers quoted in your posts, but they did seem ridiculously high. "Bonobo.tv: Life affirming programmes, films and music. Everything that appears in Bonobo.tv is there to remind the viewer of what is positive and beautiful ..." A great source of unbiased information, its a tree huggers site. Go and have a look at the Canadian Fish and Wildlife Agency websites (one per state), they will tell you ll about the licences, conditions, exams required , etc., regarding the shooting of wild creatures. http://crayfish.byu.edu/agencies.htm
  15. The very best of luck, with most spine/disc operations it seems that the patient really has very little options, as the alternative to surgery is increasing disability and discomfort. I am soon to have a similar procedure on disc L3, L4 and L5 in my lower spine (another frontal entry Op). The actual operation doesn't concern me too much, but catching MRSA or some similar infection certainly does.
  16. Where is it disclosed that 87% ( a very precise number) of bears shot are for trophy hunters and not for the table ? Its probable that any "trophy" carcases are still eaten.
  17. If somebody told me that the bear was definitely left to rot in the trees and no use was made of its death, then I would condemn the shooting. I agree that just because we don't want to do something, we shouldn't condemn those that lawfully carry out that activity. Don't get me started on squash..................
  18. In many countries black bear are culled by licence (much as deer are in the UK) and their management is necessary. By selling the licences the local Authority raise revenues for the local community. The meat is not wasted, I have eaten black bear and it is a strong, tasty meat. Assuming that the people that visit this Forum go fishing (although I wonder sometimes if any of them leave their computers), it might be a bit hypocritical to condemn the humane killing of a creature. Does a bear have more rights than a mackerel ?
  19. Therte are many confusing reports on this case all over the Internet. Some claim she was born in England, others that she was born in Nigeria. One theory is that her pregnancy is due to being raped in prison, the other theory is that she voluntarily became pregnant to avoid the mandatory death sentence for drug smuggling in Laos. Whatever the truth is its a sorry tale.
  20. I think all "competitive" programmes have to have a "formlaic" nature, to ensure a degree of fairness/even playing field. This programme is "light entertainment" and can hardly be referred to as "dumbing down", this expression refers to something lofty that has been reduced to a lower common denominator, I would suggest that BGT never had those pretensions in the first place. Any form of entertainment is just that,....... entertainment. Its only the pseudo sociologists that apply questions like "Why?" to it.
  21. I thought it was an excellent performance and very imaginatively choreographed. I also agree that they seemed nice people as well......which helps. There is something rather strange about Susan Boyle.
  22. There are four lakes at KAPS Snodland and I fished them for many years. The Burrows Lake (Stock Pond) has some nice fish in it and does not get the pressure of the other two smaller lakes (Rugby and Pads) . Rugby and Pads are considered "hard" waters, but mainly due to their smaller size and the pressure they get. Pollard fishes well all year round and I would suggest you forget the "fill it in" comments regarding feeding. You should catch well from all the swims, but the ones on the carpark side and dam end are popular, because they are so convenient to fish. Try the swims on the village side and fish in the margins with slack lines, boilies and the method work very well on Pollard and Burrows.
  23. A name I have heard on many of my fishing trips to Co Mayo, always in respectful tones. RIP John.
  24. Well said, "King Arthur" didn't do the miners any favours, go and find some old miners and ask them.
