Hi All - first post and a question
Ive been fortunate to have been to Cuba's Cayos twice - Cayo Coco at the Sol June 2004 and Cayo Guillermo at the Daquiri Jan 2007. Both times i had the opportunity to fish for Bonefish. Cayo Romana with the guide Orlando and El Paredon Flats with the Guide Jordan. Caught mid sized fish to about 5lb. Would love to try for the Grand Slam of Tarpon , Bonefish and Permit and maybe some Spinning for Jacks and Snapper
Am planning on staying at the Melia on Cayo Guillermo in August. Anybody on the forum with any experience of fishing the Cayos at that time of the year ?
Does anyone know how to get in touch with Jordan one of the cayo guides as i'd like to try and hook up with him to book some flats/boat fishing at El Paredon prior to flying out at the beginning of august ?
I'll be taking an 8wt ( Orvis Frequent Flyer ) and 10 wt ( Loomis Crosscurrent ) travel rods and managed to get some brilliant flies from a guy in Florida so am looking forward to the trip. I heard that the lagoons behind the SOl were good for small Tarpon but when i was there in January they were pretty dried up and only oddfish showing.
Went up to Pilar Beach for a day trip but didnt take any fishing gear - BUT am going prepared this time.
Any/all replies welcome - and if anyones in the cayo guilermo area at the same time may be nice to hook up......
regards
Frank
