  3. my old boss ,was a bit of a softy ,he had a rabbit proof fence round his garden (as much as they can be rabbit proof) and we bought some fen traps for the bunnies that were left inside,if you lay them alonside the fence and bait them with sliced carrots ( yes honestly) they do work ,unfortunatly they also catch magpies and squirrels as well the magpies are easy to release but squirrels "freeze" and no amount of gentle shaking will move them , the best result was to tie the trap open and blast the pesky beast with a jet of water from a hose ,all the caught rabbits were released in my garden a mile away probably becoming food for the local fox [ 12. 4. why spend money on concrete, the old favourite car engine works ok ,and people will give you one (getting rid of the rest of the car is the problem)
  5. it is probably because they practice on the venue ,not just 1 swim but most , they are all different maybe a slight depression or a rock or ridge ,learn the swim catch the fish plumbing is the key [ 11. November 2002, 07:03 PM: Message edited by: chesters1 ]
  6. damn i was hoping to be rehoused in it
  7. yes  fancy throwing out a rake a cardboard box and a nice sack  the rake could have been left in a dark thoroughfare for someone to stand on ,the carboard could make a fine front door step for a homeless person ,and the sack could be used for disposing body parts from your wifes lover that you have just brutily murdered ,its such a waste
  8. she was dire ,very little sense of humour , bring back angus or that nice mr b connoly there WOULD be a show
  9. i have always built my own although i did change the frequency xtal on an xt once (genuine ibm) i find that "named" pc`s usually are not the easiest to upgrade some have strange layouts internally to make it more so ,its "home grown " for me the days of real company built and badged pc`s are long gone ,modern firms just rebadge "over the counter" parts that with their buying power they can obtain cheaper than us ,the only difference is a guarantee and backup (for what its worth) for the whole thing rather than individual components [ 10. 10. my mum bought one years ago as a hobby ,there great, took minutes to reel of jumper panel ,hours to program it to do it hasten to say it lived in the loft for years and was skipped when they moved
  11. grice and young were a christchurch firm (although i believe they were once somewhere else) some of their reels were strange affairs using gas fittings to mount the reel they are regularly on e`bay , jw young reference material can be found here http://www.jwyoung.co.uk/history/oldreels.htm
  12. years ago i used mcaffee at work ,in downloading a file using a faster machine i then put the floppy (ah the days when complete programs could be fitted in these paltry sized disks) in my machine and mcaffee sprang into life saying it had the sampo virus ( a harmless enough virus then ) it then " cleaned " it ,on putting the disk back in and scanning it again no viri were present i took it home and put it in my machine and thunderbite (another virus checker in those days) detected the sampo virus  obviasly mcaffee persuaded itself that it had got rid of the virus when infact it was still there hence my aversion to mcaffee ,once bitten etc, zone alarm i havent tried so distrust it anyway
  13. a few words are outlawed on the banks ,on catching a specimin fish shouting "yyeeehhhaaaa" or "geeeewilikkers look at the size of this mother funner " or " shucks the mother funner snapped me up" also sitting round fires singing songs about cowboys without any friends whilst eating beans and reffering to the resident rats as "varmints" or "critters" will only get stares of disbelief ,as for swear words we brits have far better and far older ones ,use them heartilly
  14. ""We females have to undress just to have a wee! & on a wet & windy river bank with very little cover in the winter they are a nightmare [[Eek!]] [[Eek!]] "" mmmmm mind you at the "lea" there is a bog ,25 years ago there was a real one that flushed (although most members forgot) and a tap for water ,although it tasted so bad tea was made with pond water [ 09. 20. whoops upgrading a "named" pc is not good it would be easier to get a new case and build your own ,i am sure out there one of your friends could of course foster yours and return it fully funtioning

    Cliques?

ha ha i treat all of you as brothers luckily mine lives a long way a way (portishead ,which is almost america) because being a social worker he is easily upset by my revolutionary kid quieting methods involving superglue or fag burns on the eyelids or the occasional reference to a cocktail stick shoved up under the nail is great for not leaving tell tale signs of abuse , i am sure half the time he believes me a bit like the time i pretended to ring an add in the local rag about a free goat ,i dragged it on for a while about feeding etc ,he nearly exploded when i asked how much it weighed and how many minutes to the pound it would cook in at gas mark 4 [ 08.
