  4. I have only target it for last 3-4 weeks best so far is 11lb but there is bigger ive seen them
  5. Yeh i cant use maggots theres loads of silver fish they take it on the drop anyone else any ideas cheers guys
  6. Im going on my local pond tomorrow where I have caught a few carp last couple of weeks .But im fairly new to this so I had a few questions see what you guys think. ok the water is only quite small the bit i fish is about 2 feet deep opposite some reed beds where the fish tend to come out from because the water is only shallow you can normally see them if they are out.I have noticed that the last couple of weeks if i am there from 7am till 6pm they tend to be feeding twice a day but they dont tend to have a pattern its twice a day but at any time in the day is this normal also i have been using sweet corn which has tended to work as the hook bait because when they are around they tend to take it but i was seeing if there was any way i could attract them to feed a bit more ive heard that corn has a high oil content so can turn carp off feeding this time of year .also they dont seem to interested in boiles any ideas guys.
  7. thanks yeh will do the 2 rod thing any one no what is the best size hooks to use they have been taking single corn on a size 20 hook is that ok
  8. Ive been on my local pond last couple of weeks im fairly new to this but been catching roach rud bream but last couple of times ive been there i have hooked a couple of carp maybe 6-7lb the biggest but i have also hooked some bigger carp that have snapped me off and the hook lentgh can anyone tell me what strenght hooklenght and hook will take a 10-15lb carp .i want a universal hooklenth that will still catch me silver fish but when i see the carp i can cast to them with out changing any thing can any one help cheers
  9. thanks for reply i will use some of the tips u gave me.I was using a pddle chucker float with all the waight under the float and no shot down the line because i was also fishing for the silver fish that were feeding on the drop with magot so do you think my tackticks work or was it luck lol
  10. been fishing since around september last year with a mate whos into carp fishing but i have just been targeting anything that has taken my maggot ,I have been mainly fishing a small pond local to me .Well sunday morning my mate phoned and said he wasnt well so he couldnt go so i nearly didnt bother my self but i did .got there went to my usual spot where i can pretty much guantee small silver fish also to my left there is a reed bed where i have seen carp before but they have never seemed to be feeding .Anyway you get people walking round pond telling you stories about this and that and i didnt take much notice any way on sunday a got there and started catching my usual roach and rudd on single maggot on the drop.Which i am happy with being a novice anyway think about 11am it was raining and windy for about half a hour then i started seeing carp to my left just like i have the last couple of times i try to cast near them then they tend to drift away never to be seen .Well today was different i had but some ground bait down and threw a couple of hand fulls of corn out and i noticed for the 1 st time they actually had there heads down and were actually feeding i cud see 1 here 2 there and 2 everywhere .Well i put a piece of corn on my size 18hook and cast towards where i cud see 2or 3 after 10-15 mins of them frustrating being mm from my hook bank i hook 1 i didnt have a clue what to do after abou 5 secs i thing it just took off with my line whizzing away into the reeds and snap me of at the hook lengh thought my chance had gone but by the time i had sorted my hook out i could see they were back to cut the story short 5 mins later i was onto another this time landing it i didnt give it any line just kept its heead up and caught it 6 feet in front of me .couldnt weigh it but i think it was betweeb 8-10 pounds managed to land another about half the size then lost another wat a day .Is there any reason why after months of going to this pond and not really seeing many carp all of a sudden i was catching them .cheers any way for reading my drivel has any one got any more tips i love catching fish but i really only like float fishing any more tips on catching carp on the float it was brilliant
