  1. Hello. I have been told many different things in relation to where I should be fishing in the different wind directions, can anyone clarify if there is a major difference? I have been told that fishing will be slow full stop with a North East wind, but I should be sitting with my back to it and fishing at the point where the winds enter the lake not the other side from it. Does this mean when its a South West wind I should be sat likewise with my back to the wind and at the point it enters the lake? Is any of this actually correct, and does it really matter. Thanks Steve.
  2. Sorry, did not quite make myself clear on this..... Lock Knives can be deemed offensive weapons if they are intended to be so, where as flick knives are MADE to be offensive weapons and are illegal full stop. Thanks for clearing it up.
  3. The knife must be in their possession without lawful authority or reasonable excuse. Going fishing, martial arts, having a stanley blade while going to work as a carpet fitter are all with lawful authority or reasonable excuse. The law with regard to having a bladed article in a public place does not include pen knives with a blade under 3" or 7.62cm. However, if the blade locks or flicks out then this is deemed more of an offensive weapon and is illegal full stop.
  4. Hi. Ive read many times that accurate casting includes using the line clip on the reel to find the same distance every cast. I understand that. But what I dont want are my rods pulled in. If I use the line clip, initialy to lay a lot of bait, then cast out the hook bait with it, I want to take the line out the clip to allow it to run should I get a bite. How do I find the exact distance/part of the line I was clipping in the first place so as to cast out my next hook bait on the same spot I had been fishing. Am I missing something really obvious here. Your methods are appreciated.. Steve.
  5. Spot on Elton, sorry if misleading, E-bay is of course a top place, but its the little known sites I was looking for, for a range of stuff not many may know about..... Thanks for your replies. Steve.
  6. Hello. As someone who would like to slowly build up a range of fishing equipment, can anyone tell me the best on-line stores/sites that I would find that Bargain (except E-bay of course)... Ta Steve
  7. Thanks for your swift replies gents, nice to know people do read the posts..... Ill keep my eye out for your suggestions.
  8. Hello. I am new to this forum and indeed fishing. Been twice and thorughly enjoyed it, even if my hook was empty on more than one strikes. What im after is a good book that will explain to me the very very basics of coarse fishing. Ive got one book by John Wilson about complete coarse fishing but i find that some of the bits in there are a little in depth for me. I want something to tell me how to plumb depth, what differant size hooks and lb lines are for.......Right to the very start of what I need to know.... Can anyone recommend such a book. I saw one on amazon by Steve Partner which got good reviews, has anyone got this. Thanks For your help on my very first post here. Steve.
