  1. Over this winter my friend and my self found that that ether TURMERIC or GARAM MASALA were very effective for roach on the cold mornings David :D
  2. I am going to a fishery to try my hand at carp the largest in the fishery is about 25lbs do I need a braided leader if so what size the rest of the bits I have managed to pick up from the threads all ready posted Thanks David :rolleyes:

  7. I think you are right but when you get threads like the one KILLING PIKE this type of thing only gives that type fuel for the fire, and makes them more I TOLD YOU SO AND WE ARE RIGHT. David <_<
  8. The small loch that I fish is not managed and yes there are some big pike but there are also big roach and big perch leave nature alone and things tend reach a happy medium David :D

  10. It is still water lochs mainly for depth and bottom contures as we have found the depth varies quite a lot David

  18. the perch are a good size as well the heaviest that we know of is 4 lbs+ and in the summer a 23.5 lbs pike was caught we use a small dingy to get us to the best spots David

A body of water which is either:* a lake or;* a sea inlet, which may be also a firth, fjord, estuary or bay so to answer your question it is a small lake about 1/3 mile long and 1/4 mile wide the smaller loch in Ayrshire tend to be quite shallow hope this helps and the reason it is good for roach and perch is the only other fish are pike David

  21. use hemp that is in oil to start and you wont have to dry it first David
  22. I have read a few articles that you can get a rough weight of you fish by the length can any one enlighten me on what the calculations is please i have some photos of some of our catch before i had any scales and i would like to see if our estimates are any good thanks David
  23. There are some good places to fish in Scotland and the places that we fish have pure roach. I live in Ayrshire and there are lots of small lochs that have been stocked with roach we catch bags with a range from 1 lbs to over 2 lbs most times we fish. hope I have been a help david
  24. I have to agree my friend and I have had some of our best fishing when the the gods decide to let it pour just make sure you have the proper clothing for the weather david

In the summer I hooked a small perch as i was bringing it in a perch that we though was about 3.5 to 4lbs decided that it would make a meal of the one on the hook nearly landed the big one but it spat out the smaller one at the last minuet so the bigger perch will go for the smaller ones but from what I have been told they normally take them on the way in david
