  4. hello people

im looking to start using 1 of either the matrix boilie from premier baits or supa-natural rustic boilie from heathrow baits for the new season has anyone had any experience with either of these boilies and if so what one would you reccomend?

your help would be very much appreciated.

    thanks

To be honest carp will eat anything and everything so my suggestion is to try different bait! but the matrix boilie works well any where! i like fishing with different types of boilies but my favourite has to be mainline - fusion boilies.

Try as many as u can but beware not to use to many different types in 1 session! if u catch dont swap to the same bait on ll rods always try something different u never know!

  5. Hi, excuse my ignorance but my son has recently taken up coarse and carp fishing whereas all mine has been done on the beach especially around winter time. Petrol prices have made me start coarse fishing and taking my son carping on his club waters. (He certainly isn't old enough to drive!). I shall be looking at night fishing with him for carp this summer and autumn and I was looking at the price of 2 man bivvies which seem fairly expensive. I don't think I've ever seen a small tent around the lakes, they can be substantially cheaper than a bivvy and do a similar job, and also in discreet dark colours. I'm not thinking winter time (that's codding time!) so plummeting temps wouldn't come into it. Is there some sort of rule against tents or is it just not the done thing for whatever reason? Any advice welcome thanks

Hi to be honest with ya i agree with dales but most fisheries do not mind what you use as long as you treat the fish with great care! as long as you and your son are comfy then it shudnt matter!!! the best thing u can do is find the lakes u wish to fish and do a few days there and when u both are ready to do the night ask if the will allow tents!!

You wont need a 2 man bivvy if you travel light but there are some bivvys you can get 2 in, with a squeze! i have seen so many different bivvy/tents on the bank to last me a life time! dont forget u can get a brolly system for cheap as well which shud get both of u under, some of ur gear mite poke out but u can store stuff under ur bed chair as well!!

    happy fishing. tight lines

  6. To be honest the last few replys are bang on! u need to get use to match fishing!! but i know how u feel cos my lil brohter of 11 is in the same boat and i have tried to tell him to master float fishing before carping! there is so much more to fishing then just catching! as u get older u will understand!

but if u want to catch carp u need to go somehwere that they will teach u how to fish! give it time and u will et there! its not easy as every1 makes out! it have taken me 2 1/2 years to catch 1 fish from my local lakes but thats wat u gotta deail with!

not all the top fisher men/women catch straight away! u just gotta go with the flow!

u will learn as time goes on!

every good fisher men/women will tell ya u always learn new things all the time!!!

you just gotta stick with it!!

    all the best.... wet lines

  8. Hi All

I have been looking around for some high vis bottom baits, but the only ones i can find are pop ups. Does any one know of any high vis bottom baits that are not pop ups.

    Cheers

Just been looking around and here a gd site that might help! but it explains how to make ur own, so depending on how long u boil the boilie u shud be able to make some bottom bait of your own!

  9. Two points to consider 1) air dry = rock hard in air, goes soft pretty quickly in water (or very soft !)

    2) fresh is always fresher.

I prefer in order, fresh (or fresh frozen), then shelf life, and last air dried.

I'm not saying that based on facts, just my personal preference. I know a lot of people who swear by air dried, but I'm not one of them.

    Rob.

i agree with u on that 1 Rob but to be honest i buy it fresh/frozen and end up air drying them out any ways but its my choice how many i dry out!!

  10. To be honest it depends on if u can get the fish feeedin or not! if u find the right spot then gr8! but remember that there was another group of fisherman/woman just left only 6 - 12 hours b4 u got there so there wil be loads of bait in the water! if they caught try and find out what they fished on, maybe the person running the lake will be able to help by lettin u know what is working and isnt!

Maize and hemp are the best option for any country!

  11. Make sure u get some thermols they do wonders! Loads of hot drinks too and dont be affraid to jump into ur sleeping bag for a bit to keep warm!

i dont use a ground sheet but a few ppl i go with do and they seem to be warmer then me so i think i will start using a ground sheet as well! have fun, but the weather is startin to turn a bti now so it shudnt be as cold! u missed all the really cold weather well down here in the south any ways!
