  1. Chavender you are a star, can i pay on the bank here?
  2. Going to the mother in laws in Nottingham Friday night, and managed to land the time away from the family to do a mornings fishing (saturday), hopefully on the Trent, near to Beeston. It is a last minute thing and as i won't get to the mother in laws till Friday night, it means i can't get to tackle shop to buy a permit (for NAA waters), i was hoping to fish Saturday morning for a few hours to at least have a go at chub and/or barbel with an early start. Probably clutching at straws, but wondered if anyone knew of any stretches where i could buy a ticket on the bank? muchos gracias!
  3. Howdy all, Following on from various comment since i started visiting the web site as to how usefull these things are, just some what i hope is useful info on polarised clip-ons. Having bought some in the glasses format, i stumbled across some clip ons today in the renowned "Poundland". They were Foster and Grant, and still had a £9 Matalan pricing on!! They aren't the trendiest things, but work extremely well. I won't insult anybody by telling you how much they cost, from "Poundland" but suffice to say i didn't get much change from £1.01 !!! Hope this is of use
  4. I too bought one of the bags for £6.99 and i reckon its a bargain. The polaroids for 4 quid aren't bad either so i had me a pair. I agree that most of the bits were not great, but not every one has a lot of money to splash out . For eleven quid a decent bag and a pair of polaroids cannot be bad now, can it?
  5. The polariods look a reasonably good deal as an entry level pair, the cheapest i have seen is around a fiver with postage to be added on. Also for 7 quid the bag looks ok?
  6. Working today as a rep in Sainsburys i stumbled upon what i think is a first for me in a retail chain....Carp fillets in a tin for £2.65! Packed in the same way as we would see Tuna or Salmon. I have seen it before in ethnic shops but was a little surprised to see it in the mainstream. I must confess i don't have any opinion as to whether its right or wrong but thought i'd mention it. It will no doubt serve as a different treat for those looking for it!!
  7. I found a site a while ago, i don't know how accurate and up to date it is, but worth a look none the less.... http://www.dofreefishing.com Hope its of use
  8. I went fishing on the Teme in Cotheridge today for the afternoon, and whilst the going was slow and the weather was offish, i had a ball! Not due to the volume of fish, but to the fact that it was quiet and the river is full of character. It is the first time i have fished and i managed to land a Chub a needle above 5lb, using the curried luncheon meat that Ant mentioned. That , for me , is a result, not my best Chub, but not far behind. Well what can i say...happy days!!!!
  9. Best of luck for the next few days! tight lines
  10. Cheers Lyn for your advice, most appreciated....lets hope all goes well on Friday.
  11. Hi Ant Thanks for the advice, i shall take heed of your thoughts and go with the more traditional baits as both you and Lyn suggested. Will let you know how i get on
  12. I have been able to get this Friday off work to go fishing, probably on the Severn or the Teme (Birmingham Anglers Assoc waters around Worcester towards leominster etc). I want to fish light in terms of tackle and want to go for chub/barbel by heavy feeder due to the conditions. My choice of baits is probably Halibut pellet, white maggot, lobbie and luncheon meat. I have not been for a while, not caught anything for even longer...any top tips (i am conscious that it could be called off if the water levels rise much more etc) Many Thanks in advance!
  13. If you could pass my email address on Newt that would be great, cheers
  14. Hi Jigotai As a new member im unable to PM (i believe)? I have been looking for a centrepin for a while now and have followed this thread, i was probably going down the route of a second hand older model such as an Aerial but would like to enquire on how i can add my name to list for the AN reel? Any info would be greatly received!
