  1. The URL has changed: http://www.perkons1.com/SANDSINKERS/Sandsinkers.html Perkons
  2. Because AOL has shut down its websites, the site for Sandsinkers has been moved to: http://www.perkons1.com/SANDSINKERS/Sandsinkers.html Please pass it on to anyone who might find it useful. The site has had over 9,000 hits from all over the world and will be reworked in a few months. I want to add a "Rigging" section and a photo gallery of folks and the fish they've caught using sandsinkers (links to more pages). If you have photos of your rigging techniques with sandsinkers and photos of yourself with fish you caught using sandsinkers, please send them to me at perkonss@yahoo.com. With photos of fish, please include info about the kind of fish, where and when you caught it, what you used for bait, what the bottom was like, how deep was the water, etc. The sandsinkers are catching on! 3. The idea is to MEASURE the sand after it has dried. Say: 1/4 cup or 1/2 cut or whatever. Then just use that amount. I must admit that this "exact oz" business baffles me. I just make a bunch of sandsinkers of all different sizes and styles and choose one that seems to be the right size for the situation. Then I dip it into water just before casting and cast over the rocks. One interesting thing I have found is that lead sinkers have an advantage when casting INTO THE WIND but sandsinkers have an advantage when casting WITH THE WIND. Like kites they use the wind to go further. Sometimes the other folks on the jetty have been amazed at how far my kite-sandsinker goes with the wind. One guy said "How did you do that?" Perkons
  4. Useless with sewing machine. UMMM.. a problem. Do you have some old shirts around that you are throwing out? Cut off the long strip in front that holds the buttons and also the one with the buttonholes. Now you have two hollow fabric tubes. Cut into sinker lengths, tie off bottom, fill with sand, tie off top and attach to line. It works! Perkons-
  5. There's nothing wrong with touching lead if you remember to wash your hands before eating. It's a problem for kids who fish because it's hard to get them to remember not to eat potato chips while handling fishing tackle. I just prefer not to deal with lead at all and aside from that, I just hate spending money on sinkers which just get snagged on the jetty rogs, especially when fishing for togs here in New Jersey. 6. HI! I invented these and thought many people might find the idea useful, especially for fishing with kids. http://members.aol.com/Ciekurs3/Sandsinkers.html Perkons (Daina Krumins) Please pass this info around. Thanks. {admin note: This is very useful information so I'm moving it to Coarse Fishing so more members can have a look and I removed several posts that dealt with the link not working originally. It is fixed and working fine now and the site is safe although it may want to add a (also safe) Microsoft Active X control to your PC. It works fine with or without allowing the control to be added.
